I just got through with my first BB show. God, what a nightmare guys! I wasn't prepared mentally, and after manditories, when we had to come back for the public part, I just had to make some stuff up on the stage. It is a big achievement just to do a show, so I am not upset with myself for not doing better. I got fourth place in my weight division. There were five guys in heavyweight, and they were WAY better than me. So, for about 1 year of serious BB'ing and a massive crash diet on the last two weeks on which I lost 18 pounds, got down to 192, and almost killed myself, I got a little plaque and an amateur card. It was really fun though. What a head rush that stage is! The chicks were SO hot. I have never had a six pack abs before, and I finally got mine to come in, and I was so fucking proud of them. That is, until I got into the oiling room, and about every other dude in there was chiseled to the bone big ass mother fucker too. What an insane trip that whole exerience was! My girl friend made me promise not to do it again, because it was pretty tough on our relationship, but I think that I will do another show, eventually. Five years ago I was a 245 pound fat ass, and at the show I was 192 pounds at 5% body fat. One of my buddies almost won the show! He is this little mexican dude who almost won the light weight division. He got second. The judges didn't care about muscularity that much, because Hose is small, but tight. The winner of the show was pretty small, but really, really, tight. So, I learned a lot, and I had a real adventure. I hope some of you other guys get out there too. Pics soon.

it's refreshing to see a novice's point of view....i appreciate you sharing your experience with the rest of us....god knows, your post brings back plenty of memories about my first contest, in which i also received 4th place out of 5 guys....trust me, the next time you do a show it will be much easier and BETTER, because now you have that first one out of the way, and you've had your 'eye-opener'. good luck, and if you decide to compete again, let us know about your contest prep ------------------

Congradulations on your first contest. Man don't quit competing already. Bodybuilding is a part of your life. Say, how did you go about losing all that weight in two week? My first contest is 21 April. I could use some tips. Hit my email.

Hi, I remember last year my first contest. And remember the night before show when I lost 2 kg just in water. I changed during night to a "walking dead", but show was great, 2nd place. Never before in my live I wanted to drink water like during this big day. Jan

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I have now made it to the stage, and I feel really good about that. I have put on more than 10 pounds in two days, I think just in H20. I feel like a normal person again. I am going to take a week off, get eating healthy and clean again, and then go back to the gym. I think this week I will concentrate on yoga.
