ANYBODY HEARD THE THEORY OF MUSCLES BEING ABLE TO RETURN TO THEIR PREVIOUS SIZE A LOT QUICKER DUE TO WHAT IS CALLED MUSCLE MEMORY.
CAN SOMEBODY EXACTLY EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT IT IS AND HOW IT WORKS. I AM SURE THE TOPIC HAS COME UP BEFORE.

For reasons I don't understand, it is much easier to regain lost size the 2nd time than it was to gain the same amount of size the first time. I know this doesn't answer your question but this does happen. My lifting partner was huge and then he quit lifting for about 2 years. When he resumed lifting he had lost alot of mass. All of that mass returned in about 2 months of lifting.

I've heard a theory that it's got something to do with the nervous system's previous adaptions to innervating a particularly sized muscle plus the fascia and cellular membranes already accustomed to the previous mass.

You have lining over your muscles that you have to stretch out in order for your muscles to gain size. Thats why you hit a plato in size but still gain strength. They are there as part of your genetic makeup that determines how big you can grow (without help). Well anyway, the second time around you dont have to re-stretch these sacks so your muscles grow back to that point rapidly.....Hound Dog

more importantly, one of the key factors inn muscle growth is the use of satelite cells. after a muscle tears, these cells form in the muscle, and by the micro tear adn nourish it back to and above it's previous strength. so when you lose weight, you still have those satelite cells in place, which respond more quickly this time to stimulus since they are already there

muscles do not only remember for BB's.
Suppose Johnson didn't run for 2 years and started training again. He would be back where he was in no time compared to what he had to do in the beginning. (This is an example, don't give me "he is too old now).
