You know, that 10 sets of 10 with only sixty seconds of rest in between all of those sets? My God, talk about pain. What did you think of it?

Yes I know this isn't an "anabolic" topic, but, this is where all the smartest people post, so naturally I would want to ask you all!

Two guys I trained got great size results using the old poliquin GVT program. That is the one where most of the excercises are paired a1-a2, etc. I'll see if I can find a link to the old program (TC's new one doesn't compare).

BTW, GVT will do nothing for strength, and your low rep strength will go down alot. It does provide a good base for future heavier training programs though, if you are into periodization.

Mr Gelllats is dead on. I tried GVT 2000 off testosterone.net and didn't like it as much. As far as the original GVT, I don't use the first phase (10 sets of 10), but the second phase (10 sets of 6). I train Mon Wed Fri using 10 sets of 6, and only do it for 3 weeks. I also rest 2 minutes between sets instead of 1, helps me use heavier weights. After that I drop my reps and volume for my next phase, I periodize. Even if I was on a gram of test, I would overtrain if I followed the 5 day split for 6 weeks. I think the way I do it works great for a brief hypertrophy phase.

i don't know about the new one, but the original kicked my ass. I haven't been that close to puking in years! I never relied on it for long, just for a new challenge. later.

Yeah, you don't really need to stick to sets of 10 on the 10 set program. I'm primarily fast-twitch, and have incredibly shitty strength endurance, so I did the program with 5 to 6 reps per set, using an explosive concentric rep tempo.

Another good poliquin article is the "training for maximal strength" program in the very first issue of t-mag. It uses periodization with high-set low rep training. Try this program on tren and you will get crazy strong

I've tried it for bench press and squats. I really liked it for bench press, so I trow it in for variety once in a while. But I won't ever try it for squats again, by the 7th set my lower back hurt so bad from the pump I couldn't stand up straight.
