My gynecomastia has steadily worsened over the last 12 months, I don't want to try Nolvadex as I've heard it can increase the problem. Is there anything else I could try?

You are right about Nolvadex (tamoxifen). Triphenylethene is tamoxifen's "base" drug, and it displays nonspecific estrogen antagonist/agonist-like pharmacological effects in different tissues. What this means is that it both inhibits and activates estrogen activity, it is not selective to purely inhibition.

You could try a drug that has been recently released onto the market called Arimidex. It is apparently, a potent, highly selective, non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor. Estradiol is produced primarily from the conversion of androstenedione to estrone via the aromatase enzyme complex. Arimidex has been shown in clinical trials to suppress estradiol formation, yet does not show any androgenic/estrogenic activity.

The difference between these two drugs is that Novaldex is non selective at the active site in tissue. However, Arimidex stops the conversion of androgen to estrogen before it reaches the tissue site.

If you are worrying about gyno, hell yeah.
Armidex is an anti-aromatase. Nolvadex is
an estrogen receptor antagonist. Armidex
prevents estrogen...Nolvadex just competes
with it.
