Should I quit heavy leg movements and just stick to just leg extensions? Could I do high rep leg extensions eod w/ out overtraining? I'm tring to bring out cut much as possible. I know diet and cardio is important.

At this point you are no longer going to grow. This is what I do before a competition. Cut all leg training out and do wind sprints. This will bring out separation in your quads.

i second that last post....i have a show in three weeks and i plan to stop heavy legs two weeks out and just stick to extensions and then for the last week, no cardio or legs at all..it will build up too much lactic acid and smooth out your legs....maybe a light walk for a long distance out side early in the morning, but no squeezing (resistance)...

i've done 8 shows, so don't let the 'novice' status fool you.....

contrary to what these two guys are saying, i don't change anything with my leg program till the last week. my theory: if what you did got you this far, why interfere with it using a different approach? at 2 weeks out, you are far too close to the contest to 'experiment' with training techniques. i use heavy squats up until the 2nd wednesday before the show. however, i do agree on the fact that doing legs in the last week is a waste.....i cut all cardio out after tuesday before the show.

this is what works for me, and i'm sure not everyone agrees....the first show you do really is a total learning experience....good luck with it

Buzz, how far out is the second wednesday? i agree with training upper body right up until the show which i will do this year...but with legs, i wouldn't want to sacrifice any cuts...at this point, no more muscle will be added so you try to keep what you have without losing....i spend a lot of time squeezing right now to help bring out more lines and cross striations...next week which will 3 weeks out for me will be my last week of squatting...i'm not saying what you have doen is wrong, it's just different for everyone, but my advice to a beginner would be to try and come in as lean as possible with as many lines as possible because if his legs aren't there at two weeks out, then they ain't gonna be there for the show...you know that!!
