i find that when i do my concentrated exercises such as high cable curls and concentration curls i squeeze at the contraction for counts of 3 and that gets the most blood into my peak

Thats kind of a catch22 there bro, I think alot in the arm dept. comes via genetics.

I agree that concentration curls at high reps will help, but I find that holding peak contraction on all biceps excercises adds a nice dimension to my bi's.

And no, I would not resort to pumping oil in your bi's, but lets not get a whole thread started on this again.

peace,

I had the same problems. I started to do 21's and I started to hit them twice a week. day 1 was a heavy day. Lots of dumbell work. I like to do 3 movements total of 12 sets.
day 2 would be more of a pump day, 21's concetration curls, incline curls. I like high reps on this day 12-15 minimum. Last set of the day I go until I can't go any more.

I hope this helps you out, good luck bro.

Nothing, the degree to which our biceps peak has everything to do with genetics and nothing to do with training. Albert Beckles never did a concentration curl in his life, yet his biceps look like vertically seated eggs.

Genetics play a huge role, but the proper work out can help. I have been doing almost the same routine as cannons twice a week one for growth one for a pump 3 days apart. The 21's and the high cable curls are really helping. I have 18+ inch arms with little peak so they are not small, but just big looking and we all want that peak. It is coming, and it is not easy to be this patient. You have to be lean too.

I tried Al Beckles arm rotine when I was 14 an put 2 inces on my arms in 6 months and Ive got good peaks...but I think its genetics
in general...though I do think the concentration curls I picked up from Arnie's routine did somthing later on as well. Just keep scorching them man!

I don't believe in the whole genetics thing. Sure it has a large part in it but I think if the right training is done genetics can be surpassed. Try dumbell preacher curls for the peak.

I have the same problem yet, my training partner has great peaks and he swears by concetration curls and cable curls for peaking....doesn't work for me but it obviously works for some. Genetic is a factor but I believe genetics can be overcome with much work.

Peaks Smeaks, I just want big arms. I think it is genetic by where your muscle insertion points are. I have big arms and have tried everything but nothing ever gave me a peak. Listen to Gettingdiesel though, I saw him working out the other night and his peaks were jumping out.

Check this out:

Within one week of doing Incline Dumbbell curls, I put 1/2'' onto my arms. Its incredible, no bullshit, I've never had a response to a lift like this....give it a try...

Here is the way - lift a preacher curl up the first half of the movement (hardest), back down, then up the full motion of the movement!! Back down (slow and controlled), back up only have way (hold) back down and up full range. Continue etc etc etc... Count one range down, up half, down up full as 1 rep!! Excellent for strength, then size can follow, as well incline dumbells are good too!!
Good Luck!!

Twisted steel is right. A beginner
can vastly improve the size and strength
of his biceps, but if you are an experienced lifter, you'd better get used
to what God gave you, they ain't gonna
change much. Your elbow is one of the
simplist joints in your body, but for
some reason people try to hit their biceps
from all different angles...save your
creativity for your pecs and shoulders.
