i hate the crap you have to scrape off the bottom of the flask after acetone dries and the fina is all that's left. i am going to try to remedy this situation by adding the acetone and fina to the propylene glycol while the fina is still suspended in a little bit of acetone, then i will dry the acetone off from the PG, since PG sinks and acetone floats when mixed together. i just added some plain acetone to about 30 mL of PG....i'm still trying to determine how well the acetone will dry off when mixed together... CHEMISTS: i have a question does the acetone molecule react in any way with the PG molecules? my guess is NO, since they are both relatively not very reactive molecules thanks in advance ------------------

I know that acetone dries extremely well, and shouldn't (never tried this before) cause any problems with your stuff.

I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE, BUT I'M ALMOST CERTAIN GLYCOLS DO NOT REACT WITH ACETONES. THEY WILL MIX, BUT NOT REACT OR CHANGE COMPOSITION. DO A TEST AND SEE IF THERE IS A COLOR/ODOR/TEMP CHANGE WHEN THEY ARE MIXED. ------------------ NEWBIES, CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW AND GET YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED AT THESE FINE SITES. UPDATED WEEKLY |
