both are good and will stimulate growth by alternating every other wk or so.also the odds of getting injured on dumbells are fewer than the bench culprit.

dumbell bench makes my my elbows hurt,so i stick to barbell bench or incline first followed by db incline.
Another reason is my gyms dumbells only go up to 125's, and i can press these 15-20 times flat or incline.

I'll usually do flat and incline straight bar bench, then db flies. However, I feel that sometimes the dbs are better because they don't restrict the movement of the wrist.

Dumbells!! Just because i don't lift with a parter. I like to use the bar at least once a month though, just to change up my routine.

If you have SPS (small penis syndrome), then go with the barbell because you can move more weight, therefore you sound more impressive when you tell people at work how much you bench.

If you want a big developed chest, use the dumbells. They recruit the entire chest and stabilizer muscles more completely than barbell and provide a a greater range of motion.

I do chest twice a week so if i do flat barbell I will then go dumbbell incline the same day, and later in the week i start with incline barbell and then go flat dumbell. so i always get both in, and i seem to have made great gains off of this.

I assume that we're talking about intermediate and advanced bodybuilders here. For beginners, I agree that the barbell press at a moderate weight (8-12 reps) will condition them so that they can handle the dumbells with proper form later on.

The DBs at my gym only go to 100 lbs., so that eliminates flat bench presses (I know, join a REAL gym---I would if there was one near me), unless I am doing 15+ reps. I prefer DB's for incline, I used to alternate Flat Barbell with Incline DB, & Flat DB with Incline Barbell.

Just get stronger in both and your chest will grow, regardless of how big your penis is.

I'll like incline barbell presses for low reps(6-8), and Flat db presses for 10-12 reps in the same workout.

Dumbbells due to a shoulder injury and surgery, probably from heavy (for me) bar. The bar limits the range of motion that you can use and for me puts me in a bad position biomechanically

As to the SPS comment - some of us want functional muscle and not just pretty bodybuilder muscle Meaning if you compete in PL'ing then strength is pretty key in the barbell.

And I think one functional advantage of the barbell is it recruits the triceps more.

I do barbell flats, and I fucking love DB inclines.

Personally I train by myself regularely and my occasional partner if kind of a AS head (LOL ya` no shit !!) But he really isn't that pleasant to train with. So the moral of the story is I presonally like dumbbells alot...I go deeper...and can simply drop them If I must. A barbell landing on the tits really ain't cool and has happened to me a few times.

OTOH, heavy bells and throwing go together like peas and cornbread. When I push that bell up, I think of a shot shooting out of a cannon.
