I have been reading all these posts both in the archived search, and on the active topics about people getting busted. Are you guys trying to scare me or what... heh. Considering I have an over-seas order on the way, I have a few Q's. 1.) Would someone put up a good outline of some steps to take when you receive your package. (i.e. leave it unopened for awhile and put return to sender.) 2.) Which countries are relatively low-risk, and which are high-risk. 3.) If by chance, knock on wood, I do get caught w\ mail order, what would the penalties be? (I see $500 when crossing the border, is it worse from mail order?) well I have a few answers. many people don't open the package for a few days. It would be difficult for the feds to prove a case because you had an unopened package. odds are that if the cops are going to make a bust it will be right when you receive your package. please keep in mind that the odds of the feds doing this are very slim if you are importing personal use quantities. If you get caught most likely what will happen is that you will receive a letter from customs saying that they confiscated your package. Just ignore the letter and write it off as a loss of money. All they do is destroy your stuff. I've had one of these letters before and nothing ever happened. As for countries to avoid don't deal with Thailand. Packages from there are inspected more heavily due to the proliferation of mail order pharmacies there. In fact from what I hear most Asian countries are flagged by customs. Relax, don't be too paranoid, but keep your guard up too. ------------------ | ||

plifter, thanks for the boost of confidence, letter and loss of money I dont mind, felony is a different story. I will keep it unopened for awhile... if they bust down my door I will tell them I havent gotten around to opening it yet. | ||

Write on the package "return to sender" and leave it by the door... If you have nothing else on you accept a package that was wrongly sent... they have nothing that sticks in court. Good luck bro' | ||

There have been massive problems with packages being snatched out of the area codes that start with 4 or 5 - because they usually enter the US via Chicago customs. I have heard reports of as many as 4-5 out of 30 packages shipped in these areas being snatched by officials. Don't worry about trouble - the only thing I have ever heard of is a letter from customs telling you... "Nahhha - we jacked yer gear! Better luck next time!@" rxderrick | ||

yeah, just order domestic from me!! just kidding!! the chances of getting busted going domestic are slim to known if the package is shipped correctly. overseas is alittle more tricky. peace | ||

You shouldn't ever have to sign anything, but if you do, look over the package carefully before you sign, make sure it hasn't been opened and taped shut again. If it has, just say, I don't know what this is, return it to the sender. Don't order anything from thailand. I've had no problems with packages from romania and brazil, but my thailand package is 3 weeks late, so I think that one got caught. The feds aren't gonna waste their time coming after you unless you have a huge order that they catch. As for penalties, I've heard of bro's going to jail over having just a couple amps. Just be careful, be alert, don't act paranoid and you should be fine. ------------------ | ||

Thank all of you for boosting my confidence, I have had a chance to talk to my source, and I am pretty sure it wont get seized. He is a really smart guy when it comes to shipping methods even I didnt think of how he is going to send it. | ||

If your really worried, when the package comes --write return to sender. Do not open it, place a false identical box outside your house with the words return to sender---when nightime falls --take your real package put it in duffle bag and drive off to a remote place and open it quickly--take gear throw box outside of window of car ASAP---Dont bring gear home-----If they have a wire in box ----they wont catch you in the act! If they come to your door and ask where the package is, tell them that this is the only one I recieved ------It will never come down to this but if you are a paranoid person, this will work! | ||

Move to Canada! They are not scheduled here and you can poses small amounts for personal use. It's more illegal here to have Andro! Cheers, Jay |
