opt whey is the best for the price in the five lb bucket, it don't last but a week but it's better than nitro tech and designer for the amount. I use opt whey's serious mass while on cycle to acheive the 3,000-4,000 calories a day. It comes in 12lb back and has 1,610 calories a serving.

I work in a supplement arena and get to talk to most of the people in the supplement industry. Here is my take on this stuff.

opt Whey....It's not a very high grade product. It didn't test too well in the lab tests. They do have a good product in....

ProComplex.....The branch chain amino's are pretty high and it stood up well in tests. I like this one and use it quite fequently. That means it's good because I get whatever I want for free.

Scitec......The best quality stuff that I have seen. It is the highest grade protein that I know of. The BCAA's are out of this world as far as content. I like the Apple Cinnamon due to the flavor. No Gas, No Bloat and not a bad after taste. I also use this one and LOVE IT.

Myoplex......too thick but a decent blend of casien, isolate and concentrate.

TMX......Biochem has a good protein just due to it being isolate. I like this directly after my workout as it gets digested really quick. A good product.

Nitro-tech......just another protein as far as I am concerned.

Labrada.....as Far as meal replacements go, this one is my favorite. I eat at least 2 of the wildberry packets a day. This stuff has a high grade blend of Isolate, concentrate and casien in it. This means it takes roughly 3 hours or so to digest. It also means it is a little better for your body to remain in a state where muscle tissue is not being wasted.

My advise is to get pure isolate before (1hr at least) before you train and right after and thoughout the day take a casien, concentrate, isolate mix.

My last bit is...scratch all of this if you can eat 6-8 meals a day of food. Food is the best drug of all and is a must for the hard training bodybuilder/powerlifter. My problem is I am on the go a lot and need to consume a lot of protein and this just makes it convienent for me. Remember, my opinion means it's ONLY MY OPINION.

I hope this helps,
CG

I've tried 20+ proteins & IMO Scitec Nutrition's Myomax is the BEST, however, it is fairly expensive (it also contains creatine, BCAA's, ect), so I only drink it post workout, and drink NLarge2 at my other servings.

you can't really expect anything from protein, its not a supplement like creatine,if u switch to nitro tech u may notice something because they have spiked it with creatine,

curious??? optimum didnt do well in the lab tests?? do u have copies of them? im sure it would be all over the news if it were true,i think that is what muscletech and GNC and other expensive brands put in your head.

i dont understand how the quality of whey islote differs from whey concentrate. Both Whey's are the same, isolote has a higher percent of protein per gram, but why pay 4 dollars more for the tiny difference?

Protein is a supplement. It supplements your diet of real food. How do you think you grow? What are your muscles made of? Water and protein. If you do not have an adequate supply of protein....and that means what you get in food...you will not grow! If you take your protein intake and double it, you will notice a difference in size and strength. Kid, do your homework before you start giving advise! Eating food (and that means protein and good fats) is the best way to put on muscle. Steroids SUPPLEMENT your training.

As far are Nitro tech being spiked with creatine? Are you kidding me? Where the hell did you get that? You are the same kid that tried to give steroid advise and gh advise correct? Didn't Strengthmonster make you look the fool already? I don't want to, but I will rebutt what you stated.

curious??? optimum didnt do well in the lab tests?? do u have copies of them? im sure it would be all over the news if it were true,i think that is what muscletech and GNC and other expensive brands put in your head.

As a matter of fact I have seen the lab tests. I also talked to a rep from optimum and he told me the same thing, that the opt whey is not that good of a product and HE HIMSELF does not use it. He also was the one that showed me the tests on the ProComplex and showed how it WAS a decent product. Kid, I work in the supplement arena like I said and I know what is crap and what isn't.

As for you citing that Muscletech put that into my head, weren't you the one just a second ago touting creatine being put in Nitro-tech so you would feel something?

i dont understand how the quality of whey islote differs from whey concentrate. Both Whey's are the same, isolote has a higher percent of protein per gram, but why pay 4 dollars more for the tiny difference?

The diffence between the whey isolate and concentrate is mostly due to the time it takes for it to digest in your system. Isolate takes a very short time (roughly an hour or so) to digest, concentrate takes a little longer and Casien takes the longest to digest, but is probably more anti-catabolic due to it being in your system for the longest amount of time.

I really wish you would do some research because people depend on this board for good quality information. I rarely post here due to people like you Chillin, but got bored and decided to putz around on here while my wife is sleeping. Please do some research and stop giving bogus advise.

I don't have to call strengthmonster again do I?

I like Optimum Nutrition's for the price. I use chocolate and I think it tastes awesome if you use a blender. I had some strawberry EAS simply protein over a friend's house and it tasted better. I'll probably grab a bucket of that next. Maybe try some 50/50 mixes with the chocolate Optimum and strawberry EAS.

ISOPURE AND BEVERLY INTERNATIONAL'S ULTRA SIZE, MUSCLE PROVIDER ARE THE "BEST" PROTEINS ON THE MARKET. THE OPTIMUM NUTRITION PROTEIN IS JUNK. ITS CHEAP FOR A REASON....45% OF THE PROTEIN WAS RATED AS UNDETECTABLE PROTEIN...WHICH MEANS THEY BASICALLY TOOK PARTS OF A COW AND GROUNDED IT UP AND THREW IT INTO THEIR 5LB BUCKETS. I JUST FOUND THIS OUT LAST WEEK AND WILL NEVER USE THEIR PRODUCTS AGAIN. I BOUGHT SOME ISOPURE...ITS MORE EXPENSIVE BUT AT LEAST I AM GETTING SOME GOOD PROTEIN

I'll agree with you there DrJay. I've been happy with gains I'm made with Pro-Lab's N-Large, plus it tastes great. Pro-lab's 100% Pure Whey tastes fair, but it's tough to mix and clumps too much. Optimum tastes great and mixes with a spoon.

I have to lend some support to chillin. Supplements are big business and supplement companies don't grow sales and profits by failing to release and promote new products. This year whey isolate is being hyped as far superior in bioavailability than whey concentrate; next year it will be something else. The question is when is "good" good enough? I would rather pay $25-30 for 5 lbs of whey concentrate vs. $50 for 2 lbs of isolate. Is whey isolate 5x better? hmmmm...I'd like to see copies of those studies too Curious George. Which supplement company funded the study?

of course i do, but i'm not interested in what people think is the best...if you have been around long enough, you know that switching it up is the best...chicken, lean steak, eggs, shakes (anything that has high protein low carb, low sugar), etc. ...i just don't see a need to take attention away from more important posts with ones like "what is your favorite protein"...i am three weeks froma show so i apologize for the flame, but let's get serious on this board fellas....

Designer I find the best for taste with skim milk -- and it mixes nice and easy.

Does anyone now of any protein powder without any trace of Soya? I have an allergic reaction to it.

I've tried a bunch of these protein shakes and they all pretty much taste like shit. First of all, they clump up when you mix them up with a spoon (ie. Simple Whey, Optimum Nutrition whey). And they taste nothing like what the label says... trust me, I know what chocolate fudge is supposed to taste like. Strawberry flavors are probably the worse, it's like drinking f*cking pepto-bismol.

I ran out of whey last week, and because Natural High screwed up my order, I had to buy a small jug of whey from a local grocery store. I bought Twinlab's whey (triathlon series). It's actually pretty good. It's the only protein I've tried that COMPLETELY dissolves on water with spoon. The taste is pretty good also and you don't have to chew shit when you drink it. Myoplex strawberry is another good one, if you have a blender. Met-rx chocolate is too thick.

I like Labrada bars and powder from proteinfactory.com If I go to a store, I'll usually get Isopure.

"The diffence between the whey isolate and concentrate is mostly due to the time it takes for it to digest in your system. Isolate takes a very short time (roughly an hour or so) to digest"

hmm, well the only difference may be due to the extra 1 gram of fat concentrate has per serving, ok now where the fuck did u get the 1 hour thing did u just make that up??? just like people make up u can only digest 40 grams of protein every 3 hours or other shit like that,or do u have a reference that indicates that whey concentrate takes approx 1 hour longer,u probably would not, what u said was so vague, because their are different types of whey concentrate(60%,75% etc) , so it would depend on the fat content of the other whey concentrate, take optimum's which has 1.5 grams of fat a serving, your islote probably has.5 grams,so it has approx 1 gram more,1 gram more should not take 1 hour more to digest,so if u have 12 grams of fat in a meal it will take 12 hours longer?thats how your thinking

also if u have your whey islote with a meal, say a tablespoon of flax oil it will take longer for it to digest, than concentrate without, the amount of difference is very slight and not enough to make a noticalbe difference with your physique, not like your expressing

"I really wish you would do some research because people depend on this board for good quality information. I rarely post here due to people like you Chillin, but got bored and decided to putz around on here while my wife is sleeping. Please do some research and stop giving bogus advise."

your a fuckin idiot,do some research?? U need to do some research ,maybe i need to do some too,but less than you. Your one brainwashed little ho. ALso it would help if u read some unbiased shit, since u seem to think every product which or more expensive is better.

i just noticed the stuff u wrote in bold. First part,i couldnt agree with you more that your diet is the most anabolic thing, and any supplement that can improve your diet is a good.I am talking over the counter that your diet is the most effective thing, some may believe diet is the most effective thing over and under, but i dont know,so my answer is just over for now.

second part "As far are Nitro tech being spiked with creatine? Are you kidding me? Where the hell did you get that? You are the same kid that tried to give steroid advise and gh advise correct? Didn't Strengthmonster make you look the fool already? I don't want to, but I will rebutt what you stated"

go to netrition.com and go to the area which u would go if your buying nitro tech, scroll down their will be an indgrident list, the label is shown on the lower part of the screen. Or next time you are in your supplement arena look at the label. Look closely and somewhere around the midway down u will see creatine on the label. At first i didnt know this either and i thought people were talking about Cell tech and accidently saying Nitro tech, but one day when i was looking at protein factory.com some part of the webpage mentioned it.

"As a matter of fact I have seen the lab tests. I also talked to a rep from optimum and he told me the same thing, that the opt whey is not that good of a product and HE HIMSELF does not use it. He also was the one that showed me the tests on the ProComplex and showed how it WAS a decent product. Kid, I work in the supplement arena like I said and I know what is crap and what isn't."

IF you go to thepowerstore.com and check out the disscusion board section ,it is somewhere in their where he tested it and it came out nearly perfect,he has no reason to lie, very unbiased. Also this months Planet muscle has a lab test in it. I have also chatted with someone in the aol bb room that has tested it (he works at a store like u,he just happens to be a little with it),this was along time ago i forgot his screen name. i am not gonna count the one optimum puts in their magizine,as far as what the rep said, i dont know, just because he a rep doesnt mean much, a good example is yourself, just because your you work at supplement store your still stupid and brainwashed. Look at the stereotypical GNC worker. Also are u gonna show me the tests??? i just gave u a few places to look, now wheres mine?? maybe u can call muscletech and eas and they can make one for you. By the way i have heard cases where both muscle tech and eas have not met label claims,i think the rumors with this quickly died because automatically tend to believe their false due to the marketing schemes and price.

"As for you citing that Muscletech put that into my head, weren't you the one just a second ago touting creatine being put in Nitro-tech so you would feel something? "

again....Look at the label

Isopure (in that big bucket) has given me far better results that any other protein, by far. It's just too expensive. We need to organize a boycott to drive these insane prices down, brothers!

[No offense George, but I think you could make a lot more money through quantity if you would just reduce your mark-up] - but what do I know, Im just a lowly consumer.

MethoxyPro - (cytodyne)
VP2 - (AST)
ACtisyn - (sportPharma)
IsoWhey - (Interactive Nutrition)
Promax - (SportPharma)

Are some of the best!!

ALWAYS go with an isolate for your post-workout drink. Concentrates can be taken throughout the day for protien requirements (grams/bodymass)

Just Whey (Simple, decent taste, decent price)
Actisyn (I like the extra vitamins they put in this stuff, I feel it defintely works. I wish they'd come out with a carb-free Actisyn).
Protein Factory (Great prices, pick and choose, good quality)
LEF's Ultimate Whey (Great quality whey, but expensive)
t-mag's Grow! (I know, expensive as hell, but the best tasting stuff out there by far).

I've finally got my protein. It's Prolab's Pure Whey. It's crap. The shit just won't dissolve in water without a blender, it's the worse I've ever seen. There's like cottage cheese shit build up on top of the solution when you mix it with a spoon.

That really suck. I bought 10 lbs of this shit.
