I've been working out for years, but never learned to work the muscle on some exercises instead of the ego. Squats are pretty much the only exercise I am refering to. I have always been able to squat and leg press a lot. I would have no trouble doing 5 plates on squats, but I always just went to a 90 degree bend. Partially it was cuz I didn't want to hurt my knees but also because going lower was too hard. Finally, yesterday I decided that I had had enough of boosting my ego by doing huge weight; I would rather do the exercise right.
So, I did ass-to-the-floor squats. That's a completely different story. I couldn't come close to five plates, but it felt way better mentally and physically and my hammies got a great workout. Now I'll feel great when I can do 5 plates with ass to the floor squats. I wish I started doing this earlier. The quad around my knee got a lot better pump too, but I gaurantee that my hamstrings are gonna blow up now. So, for those of you cheating, stop it. Trust me, it feels way better. People just look at you like an idiot when you don't go all the way down. The people that really piss me off are those that stop the bar before it touches their chest when doing bench. Just felt like telling you guys that. Later.

be careful for your knees-you might want to wrap them if you're going that low.

i also do deep squats but only for high reps and lower weight. the weight may feel good but you will eventually hurt your knees. I always hit the squats heavy for 5-6 sets then do 3 sets of 20 real deep with about 135lbs and that is all. i can squat 405 to 90 degrees but the 135 feels like 405 on your second set of twenty, trust me.

You need to be really careful when doing full squats. A lot of chronic knee injuries are caused from "ass to the floor squats." Personally I go slightly passed a 90 degree bend, but don't go any further for fear of injury.

floor squats rule, so does strict form in everything u do. Some of the bro's on here say they can get good results by "cheating" a bit here and there but everytime I doit my joints just hurt for a week. Srict form and who the hell cars bout the weight, that will come with time. alot of time by the looks of me... ;
