Do you know of any way to add saturated fat to nut or plant oils? Don't ask why, lol, we have a little side bet going on who comes up with the first working formula for it. The first person to give me a response THAT WORKS will get a free vial of Synthol. (IE, don't post dumb things, I will try them and if they don't work then I won't send.) So what say you the people of the board, any ideas?

IS THE SAT FAT SOLID OR LIQUID? YOU COULD TRY AN ORGANIC SOLVENT LIKE METHANOL OR ACETONE. WAIT A MINUTE, ARE YOU ASKING IF YOU CAN CONVERT UNS FAT INTO SAT FAT? ------------------ NEWBIES, CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW AND GET YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED AT THESE FINE SITES.

Assuming that the Sat fat is solid, you could render it, ie - heat it up to become a liquid and simply add it to the unsaturated (liquid) fat. Depending on the type of unsaturated fat, it would probably hold enuff of the sat fat to make a difference.

Wow, if this is considered a VERY interesting question for Chemists, I'm glad I'm not a Chemist!

I'm no chem. But isn't nut and plant oils made up of mostly mono unsaturated fat. If so you can break the carbon carbon double bonds by the process of hydrogenation(sp). But this would give you a trans fatty acid not a sat.FA. But trans is worst for ya then SFA.LOL... Also a trans Fatty acid as a similar structure I believe. Well if thats not what you want, then the only other thing i could think of is what shadow said.

You will need a pressure vessel designed for up to 100 bar (special execution up to 200 bar) fitted with a special self-aspiring, powerful gas dispersion system specially developed , and with cooling/heating elements of high area capacity from 0.5 m3 up to 50 m3 capable of withstaining a temperature of up to 350C, and a combination of special elements which provide the required gas-liquid transfer, shearing effects, high internal hydrogen recirculation rate and liquid circulation at moderate power consumption with aggitator driven by a practically maintenance-free magnetic coupling system, eliminating sealing problems generally associated with high pressure equipment. You will also need high area static turbulo-plates of new design to prevent possible deposit of catalyst or product during the draining operation. I could show you a diagram if you need one
