Back from the Orthopedic and I have two problems in each shoulder. The first problem is that my collarbone and the shoulder blade bones are rubbing which has caused deterioration (a form of arthritis). He said that the only resolution for this is to cut out part of the bone. This does not seem to be causing the pain so I opted for a conservative approach. Fix the second problem first and see if I have any pain. The second problem, which caused the first, is that I have an inflamed Bursa (sp?). There is a space underneath the collarbone and shoulder blade that contain the Bursa (sp?), muscles and tendons. There should be a small gap of space between the Bursa, muscles and tendons for the collarbone and shoulder blade bone to flex. In my case there is no space. What has happened is that the Bursa, muscles and tendons are slamming against the collarbone and shoulder blade bone, which is causing inflammation and the pain. When I asked what caused the problem he stated that the larger deltoid and chest muscles have grown faster than the supporting smaller muscles in the rotator cuff. Therefore, my arm socket is riding higher than it should. Not surprising since I was on 1 gram of AS for 12 weeks and I never worked out my rotator cuff muscleshehe After a very long debate I decided to let him give me an injection of 1cc of Celestone. Celestone is a cortical steroid. He assured me that the small dosage would not cause any atrophy. I also must do physical therapy to strengthen the rotator cuffs every other day for 4 6 weeks. And I can not do any exercises that I raise my arms above 90 degrees (no bench, military press, pull downs etc.) I can do flys for my chest and lateral raises with light weight for the deltoids. Anyone that has had a Celestone injection or shoulder problems please give me some feedback. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I have alot of experience in this area, for 2 reasons. I've had the shot, and I am also a doctor, not an MD but I deal with physical problems and rehab. The shot did nothing for me. If he gave you the shot in the bursa which is where they usually do for that problem, and if your problem is bursitis, it will help. My personal opinion is to rehab conservatively as aggressively as possible. Treat it as important as your training. If it helps you avoid surgery it is worth it. As far as the surgery where they cut off part of your collar bone, I would never do it, no matter how bad the pain is. I have heard too many horror stories. Ask around, ask your doc to put you in contact with others who have had this. If you need some help with your rehab, email me your exercises that you are doing. Good Luck ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
