Ok dudes, go easy! First off before looking at the pics read this whole post. I am 28 years old. I have not touched a weight since I was 21 years old and I have never used gear. I lifted for almost 2 years straight when I was 20-21 years old. I have always been extremely strong, even before I lifted. The first time I ever laid on a bench I did 225X6. (could have done more reps, but I was so uncoordinated I almost dropped the bar on my face) I was up to a 365 max bench within a few months and eventually got to 445lbs after 18 months of lifting. I lifted heavy and never went above 6 reps except for arms. I always had a powerlifter look even before lifting weights and I kind of still look like a powerlifter. Anyway, I've been doing deskwork for the last few years and have got out of shape. I have ran into some money and am building a 1200 square foot gym (will be completed in less than a month, anybody in Arizona want to check it out, shoot me an email) among other things. If that doesnt give me the motivation to lift nothing will! After reading this board and researching for the last month or so I have definitly decided to use gear this time around. My question is am I destined for the powerlifter look and should I just concentrate on bulking gear, or could I ever achieve a contest style lean mean physique? Should I bulk up for awhile and then cut or should I just try to cut up the natuarl foundation I have now? Here are my stats as of today- 5 foot 6 (yes, I'm short) 243 pounds Arms- 17 inches Thighs- 25 inches Calves- 17 1/4 inches Waist- 42 inches (pant size is 36, 42 is actual measurement around naval) Chest- 48 inches Shoulders- 53 inches (all the way around) neck- 18 1/4 inches I may look like a fat fuck, but I'm still strong as hell. To give you an idea, me and my wife were at Sports Authority checking out equipment 2 days ago and I did 11 full pull-ups on a bar they had. That may not sound like a lot, but keep in mind I weigh 243lbs and havnt touched a weight in 7 years. Before I attempted that I told my wife I didnt think I'd be able to do 1! Here's the pix- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

You can obviously put on good size, (I wish I could build shoulders like that!) You have also maintained it well after not lifting for 7 years. So I think getting lean would dramaticly change they way you look. I too have a short, stocky physique, and the leaner I get, the happpier I am. I firmly believe getting leaner can in many cases make a person look bigger. My advise about the gear is not to touch it for at least a year of busting your ass in your gym. Get back to a baseline similar to where you were at before, then do it right. You will be quite pleased. I certainly couldn't advocate immediately dumping a bunch of shit in your body and trying to get into shape after so many years off. Just my opinion, I'm sure many will disagree... Your current measurements don't mean shit when you are carrying 60 (being generous) of lard. I would suggest getting serious the el' natural way for a year or more, and really focus on your goal, to lose fat and gain lean muscle. After you develop a good base, then CONSIDER doing A.S. to further your growth. Just my two cents. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

THIS IS NO FLAME BRO, BUT YOU REALLY DO NEED TO CUT SOME OF THAT UP. I WOULD NOT SUGGEST A BULKING CYCLE RIGHT NOW. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yep, diet down. Bust your ass to get back into shape like the others said. Go natural all the way until your back in top form and your natural gains have stopped. I don't see any reason why you are condemned to a power lifter physique. It looks like you can have a bodybuilder look if you work for it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well, bro, I think you have some potential but I think you really need to loose some weight before you can make an honest assessment of where you are muscularity wise. I mean, I'm 6'3 and I weigh 245. I think I'm pretty solid but I also think I need to lose about 20 lbs of fat and put on 20 pounds of muscle. Keep workin' bro and post the pics like a before and after. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Never been in your situation dude, but i would get some winny and fina and really cut up and harden your muscles this spring. Wait until fall and by that time if you have busted your ass with your cardio and training then you will be ready for a hell of an anabolic cycle that will make you grow like a big dog!!!!!!!! Just my 2 cents, many will have different opinions......good luck. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I am 5'6 197 with a 29' waist at the most and if my waist would get much bigger I would diet until it was were I wanted it bro. If I were you I would start dieting now and training hard along with some cardio and you will do well because you ahve no problem gaining and thats good. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Trust me bulking isn't the way to go right now. I've bulked with much less fat than you're carrying now and you feel like a bloated pig. Not a flame, just trying to persuade you that I think you would be unhappy if you tried to bulk now. Like mentioned above I would train hard naturally for a year, get your diet in order and then look toward gear. You haven't lifted for seven years so you will be able to make great gains without gear right now. Might as well save your money right? Good luck. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

No Flame............ Lose 50lbs. You'll still be strong as hell, and when you're cut you just look better. By the way..you got some cajones to put before pix up, man. I wish you the best! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

No flam here either but lose weight and see how strong you are then. I'd like to think I'd be that strong at that weight. Drop to 185 and see what you have. Those measurements aren't real for you, too much padding ![]() ![]() ![]()

quote: 7 years ago when I was hitting the iron, I weighed less than 200lbs. Like I said, I got fat over the last couple years at a deskjob. This post isnt to ask if I'm fat or not, everybody can see that I am. Big deal. My post is to get some input on what to do about it. It's going to be hard for me to get back into this, trying to lose weight and gain muscle at the same time. My muscles are going to take forever to recover, that's why I think it would be a good idea to just do a mild cycle while I'm trying to dump the extra fat. Most of you disagree with this and say no gear for a year. I say why not? Give me a really good reason. If gear builds lean mass and that's why I'm working out to begin with, why not use it? It's not like I'm 15 years old and never lifted. I'm 28 and experienced. I say starting out with a light cycle after all this time will do me good. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

O.K. Bro, after that long of a layoff you are basically a newbie again. Your out of shape, you are not trained right now, you have no business looking for short cuts. I don't care how many dues you paid in the past, it's time to pay again. The time to use gear is after you have your training, dieting, and conditioning dialed in so you can get the most out of it. Not before! When you have hit your natural peak, then it will be time. Otherwise, how the hell are you going to know what is natural and what is gear induced. The reason why it is going to be so hard at first is because you're out of shape and gear won't change that. You sound like you want carte blanc to use gear without putting in the work you need to do first. Kind of like buying a car before you learn how to drive. I can tell you are going to do it anyway, so good luck, but you will not be as successful as you could be if you did it right. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I say "Fuck It".....just use gear now. Everybody runs off at the mouth saying "Don't use juice till you've MAXIMIZED YOUR POTENTIAL!" All of those guys are ON. Then, you find out they started juicin when they MAXIMIZED their potential at 6'4" 170lbs and 20% bf. Thats why I say FUCK IT. Start juicing lightly now and diet. PS I thought your original question was whether you should cut or bulk first. Sorry I can't read ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

RT10...us big boys have to deal with different problems than these ectomorphs. First off, since you haven't lifted for a while, I'd take 1-2 months to really work your ass off in the gym and out. Take creatine, glutamine and protein to get you back in the swing of things, and during that time, read up, save some $ and buy your stash. I would suggest cutting first...HOWEVER, since you haven't lifted for a while and you seem pretty strong, taking steroids while you cut would help your strength, cutting and appearance. I'd suggest something along the lines of: DNP, fina and winny, then follow up with anavar and halo to tighten you up. During these next 2 months, hit the weights for about 1 hour, and do cardio for about the same. Get your metabolism back to what it used to be, hit the cutting and you'll be fine. Email with comments or questions. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

hey R you remind me of myself a few yrs back and now i look back im aglad i didn't juice for a while. i am 26 and started lifting in when i was 13 but when i went to college i didn't touch a weight for two years and gained the freshman 15 twice going up to 210 and at 5'5 and mostly fat. i finally got back into it for 6 months and did a cycle and went to about 190 looking alot better and after a year something happened to where i quit liftin again at 21. at that point i went another 2 yrs without touching a weight except once playing around at a buddy's house and they were amazed i threw up 275 without liftin for over a year but then they tell me it's easier for me cause i don't have to lift it as far- bullshit 275 is the same for me like anyone else!anyways i got back about 3 yrs or so ago dropped from 215 to 170 which i did lose some muscle but did get all the bf to which i had the base to start. along that way i have perfected "my" diet and currently at around 10%bf at 5'5 226 bench around 430 squat close to 600 after 2 cycles. i have a couple of friends that will be turning pro in a matter of time and they keep telling me i have freaky genetics and that i should do a show but it isn't for me. the thing is i was close to my natural peak before i started the juice this time at about 200 lbs and that was in dec.don't try to get bigger until ya get smaller cause nomatter how strong ya are you won't be satisified when you look in the mirror until the bf is lower.good luck!! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Oh alright, kingjohn hit it on the head. I was just putting responsibility above reality. You want the truth, well here goes: NATURAL SUCKS!!!!! There I said it. Don't bulk yet though, cuz you have mass. Hit some tren, winny, and eq. or some combo like that. It will harden you up and make you as strong as an ox while you diet down. You will be leaner, more vascular, ripped and strong. Have you looking good for beach season. Then come fall, you can look at packing some quality mass on to that foundation. Have fun. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

You seem to have great genetics for strength for size. It's hard to tell from the pics, but it does look like you have a long torso and short legs-that part isn't real great for bodybuiding, but it can be for powerlifting. The other question is can you get really cut? I would train for 6 months, getting all your previous gains back, then see where you are at. Good Luck. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Here's my $.02 Don't try a bulking stack now because you will get bloated and you will gain 'some' fat along with muscle. Instead get on a high protein low carb diet and do a mild cycle of Primo... maybe 400-500mg a week. The Primo will help ya keep the muscle while you lose the fat. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I AGREE WITH LITTLE SAVAGE ON THIS ONE. WORK YOUR ASS OFF FOR A COUPLE MONTHS NATURALLY, GET YOUR BODY USE TO IT AGAIN.THEN CONCENTRATE ON A CUTTING CYCLE. GOOD LUCK TO YOU. SLIMJIM ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

a couple of month?. Are you guys kidding? this guy should not even think of using gear for at least a couple of years. He hasn't trained for 7 years so it is like he never has. And you rt10 please DO NOT USE AS. AS ARE NOT THE EASY WAY OUT AND THERE IS NO MAGIC AS THAT WILL BURN OFF YOUR FAT. YOUR MUSCLES ARE NOT CONDITIONED, YOU HAVE NO CLUE HOW YOUR BODY REACTS TO DIFFERENT KINDS OF TRAINING OR DIFFERENT DIETS , YOU HAVE A LONG WAY AHEAD TO LEARN PROPER LIFTING FORM. dON'T JUMP ON AS NOW CAUSE YOU'LL ONLY DO HARM TO YOUR HEALTH WITH LITTLE TO NO ADVANTAGE. bUST YOUR ASS OFF FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS AT LEAST, FOCOUSING ON LOOSING FAT WITH A SERIOUS LIFTING SCHEDDULE AND A SHIT LOAD OF CARDIO. USE SOME ECA MAYBE. IF YOU USE AS NOW YOU WILL REGRET IT. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

if you're as strong as you say ,then no gear i agree with everyone else train, train, use supplements protein, creatine, etc. using gear now will only set you up for an injury. get you body and joints back in shape.Short cuts are for sissies. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I THINK YOU SHOULD LOOSE SOME FAT BRO BEFORE DOING A BULKING CYCLE. AGAIN, I KNOW YOU HAVENT TRAINED FOR YEARS, AND YES IT WILL BE FASTER FOR YOU TO GET IN SHAPE, BUT 7 YEARS IS A LONG TIME. ------------------ I am Conan, the Ironbarbarian back from the deep dark hell! ![]() ![]() ![]()

I think you should be natural at least for a few months until you get back into the full swing of things, ie. Correct form, workout routine, diet and all that fun stuff. =) As far as waiting a few years to use gear, IMO, I think thats full of it. As long as you do the research and use them wisely, I see nothing wrong with using roids "before your natual limits" One more thing, my bro used a cycle and he was overweight, during that cycle he gained a nice chunk of muscle while LOSING a VERY NICE Amount of fat. As I already said, Just make sure you know what to cycle, how to cycle, what to eat, and all those other fun things.
btw. By your appearence, I'm sure you'll get back to where you used to be in a short time, (maybe even shorter then you think) Good Luck =) [This message has been edited by JW (edited March 31, 2001).] ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

yeah-hit the diet-high protein moderate carbs and real low fat-try this for about 6months-year and then think about juicing-try to get down to at least 12% bf. You want to build quality muscle with AS not fat. Diet is the key ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

If you lifted over 400# you're strong. Since you're only 28, take your time, do your research and then choose. You already have a bb build and your calves are big. If you do some walking and lose some weight you'll be healthier. As you get older you gain weight, so lose some now. 5'6" is an ok height. My daddy was that height. Try to achieve a balance of strength, flexibility and speed. And you'll remain strong even when you're a grandad.
