Keto diet is good for losing fat. The anabolic diet on the other hand supposedly works well with AS. Dr. Mauro DiPasquale wrote it. I've been on it for a few weeks- it's ok, I've lost some fat and gotten stronger. Just eating meats, cheeses during the week gets boring week after week. The weekends are the best part though, eat whatever you want. IP: Logged |

I also posted on that and really didn't get any replies. I was thinking about using a mid week carb spike while on juice, to keep the intensity high at the gym like DePasualie (sp) recomends in the Anabolic Diet. Someone please comment. IP: Logged |

I posted this answer previously. When I e-mailed Dan Duchaine on this topic about 2-3 years ago, just after BodyOPUS was coming out, he said his diet was not for steroid using BB's. The reason is that steroids need insulin to work optimally. I don't remember the physiology behind it, but there's a Dirty Dieting newsletter on the net, I think at QFAC, that explained it. I have heard that DiPasquale has said in his book that you can get better gains w/ a CKD. I don't think that that's true. I use the keto diet whenever I pick up an extra few pounds and I think it's great, for me. I don't think I ever lose any muscle on it, I can really eat as much as I want all the time (I don't follow any calorie guidelines), and the fat just melts off in a few weeks. I also did a d-bol only cycle while on it before discussing w/ Duchaine. You definitely gain more weight with carbs all week. More fat too, but more muscle. The Doctor IP: Logged |

As Doc stated, the keto diet is not suitable for bulking using steroids, since the low carb phase will reduce insulin levels and thus lower IGF-1. The rebound effect that occurs over the carb-up phase will probably cause some muscle growth, but this will not be optimal. This diet is better used for fat loss and steroids will enhance this effect and prevent muscle loss. IP: Logged |
