i find if you hit your lower abs first then the obliques, then upper, you get a good workout in. Any other suggestions?

Just like any other muscle group in your body..the abs adjust to your routines also.
Try switching your routine around as well as adding more resistance, such as in weighted cable crunches..and just plain weighted crunches.
That should do the trick for ya,

Have you tried using the swiss ball for abs?
This way you get to stretch your abs out/back for each rep. I like it and it's welcome change.

What have you tried? have you ever used ankle weights, and done some hanging leg raises, or some reverse crunches on a decline bench for lower abs. that will get your lower abs burning. but once you have that burn dont' stop. How about you give us a sample of what you do?

Hey again, well its when your lying flat, or on a decline(makes it harder)you do a crunch with your legs, your knees are bent and your bring your knees to your chest. oh, if you go get the muscle and fitness mag. it had a whole booklet on ab work outs, it was last months but i saw a copy of it out today, but the new copys come out today though. if you cant get it email me and i'll mail you the booklet if you want. But it has ab movements that i never seen before and it has help me.

You didnt' really list your current routine but here is what I have found effective.

Swiss ball with a dumbell on your chest--once you can balance that. But a plain ol' swiss ball is great too.

Do your reps slow and feel it the whole way. I only do about 15-20 and about 6 sets. If you can do more you are going to fast or need to use weight. If you focus on the burn the whole way you will get 10x more out of the exercise. Check your ego at the door if you are used to doing 100 reps at a time. You may do 100 in the whole workout.

Obviously the real key is losing the fat on the gut. Since you are a woman that is usually not as much of an issue.

People think that they need to do a ton of reps and that is BS and a waste of time. Go heavy or go home
