How many calories should I consume? I lift five days per week (great program), I see gains no doubt. I eat as I have said before between 150 and 200 G's of protein per day. I am currently droping my BF% and dont want to eat so many calories that I have a tough time taking off BF. I weigh 216 and am 6'2" my BF% is currently 15%. I think with the propper advice on caloric intake I can increase my gains. Please, also suggest the cleanest source. THANK YOU, IP: Logged |

This is very easy. To gain weight: eat more calories than your body uses a day. To lose weight: eat less calories than your body uses a day. IP: Logged |

Diesel, that is too easy. I dont care if I gain weight I just dont want to gain fat, in fact I want to lose fat while gaining muscle. I know there is a need for calories when building muscle. I need a middle ground of fat loss and muscle gain. I am doing well now but I think proper caloric intake can increase my gains. Whats your REAL suggestion?????? IP: Logged |

This is a complicated question..what I do is cycle my calories based on my LBW..after a cycle I adjust them up according to the gains I accomplished. Finding your caloric level takes time and there is no true formula, some say multiply your LBW by 12, but I think that is too little. The best thing to do is experiment (with carbohydrate intake). Keeping it simple helps,so consume most of your carbs from sources like oatmeal, brown rice, and sweet potaters. Hope this helps a little bit. Get your fat from Omega-3/Omega-6 oils I also like to consume casein before bedtime instead of whey. IP: Logged |

You have no idea of how many calories you're eating now. So how the hell do you expect to figure out how many calories you need to eat to get bigger? The prescription IS SIMPLE. Figure out EXACTLY how much you're eating now. That is to say, average your daily caloric intake for two weeks. You accomplish this by meticulously weighing and logging your food. Once you know how much you're eating, increase it. That's it. I could explain further how to gain without putting on fat, which is near impossible, and really a waste of time, but you'll never even do the first part. Figure out exactly how much you're eating now! IP: Logged |

you proably could eat 3000 calories a day and stay at your body weight, and maybe put on extra muscle slowly. i reccomend eating about 4000 calories a day and see how it works, but try to eat about seven or eight times throughout the day to achieve that many calories don't worry about the fat try and get as many complex carbs and protein as possible ------------------ IP: Logged |

i always say do one thing at a time, you'll get better results that way. When trying to add some muscle eat around 3500-4200 a day for your body weight w/ 300+g of protien a day, and train w/ heavy weights. When trying to lose fat, just try and maintain the muscle you have. what i think works best is 2000-2500 a day w/ 300+g of protien, and cardio 3-4xwk and lift w/ moderate weight, 15/12/10/8. this always works for me. and for better results add drugs! ------------------ IP: Logged |

To start with you have to count the calories you eat daily. You can get a calorie counting book. this is excellent. This is how i have started. Once you are aware of how your body reacts then you will see even more gains. IP: Logged |

The Bros have a good thing going here, but you have to know your BMR. I have found that on a natural diet..I can adjust my caloric intake around 600cal. over my bmr..and do nicely.. However on my first gear cycle I have found that I could increase my cal. intake by almost 1000cal. a day and not worry much about bodyfat. Sorry to inform you of this.....but lean muscle and fat go hand in hand.. You put on a little you gain a little..simple enough...then just cut afterward. Find your BMR by eating what you normally do per week..if your weight stays about the same..then thats about it. After that make your adjustments.... Eat like a horse on cycle..and dont worry about it..it really pays off..I have learned this quickly.. Later, WCP IP: Logged |
