How to beat it! I just can't eat much. There are days where I can eat all I want ( which doesn't happen often) but most of the times I just can't eat even though I'm hungry. [This message has been edited by kosfer (edited April 13, 2000).] IP: Logged |

If you can't bring yourself to eat as many solids you should at least try to get some protein or mega mass type shakes into you atleast with all the protein it should spare a bit of lean body mass from wasteing away. IP: Logged |

I feel like my stomach can't take more food but I still feel hungry. And other times I feel hungry but the idea of eating something makes me change my mind. Its a weird thing. Also when I stess out or when I'm not feeling well I just can't eat. Some times I think its psychological but I know that most of the time its not. And an other wierd thing is that I actually think that my biological clock has a 36 hour cycle both when it comes to sleep and food. BTW I have mad insomnia as well and I don't do any drugs. im pretty sure certain steroids will increase appetite. some will decrease it too. i think anadrol will make you feel full. i don't know which ones increase appetite. anyway, if you are skinny you will get bigger on basically anything. IP: Logged |

Still seems to me like a head problem (FYI I have some experience with eating disorders). Trouble sleeping, eating when full and not eating when hungry elucidates... Are there any psychologists on the board? Puc IP: Logged |

Bro, your right. Eating disorders are no joke. I had a girlfriend with serious eating disorders so I have seen the detrimental effects. I have also studied this subject extensively while leading a university research group. You should get some help dealing with your stress issues now. By developing coping strategies soon you will have a much greater chance of controling this affliction. It doesn't sound as though you have a serious problem yet, but it could develop into one if you don't learn to handel your stress better. Getting help does not mean your fucked up! It means you respect yourself and care about yourself enough to do something about it. IP: Logged |

Gary is right!!! You need to take care of this issue right away before it worsens. I can tell you from first hand experience, that 9 times out of 10 these problems are stress related. You need to sit down and evaluate what in your life causes stress and try to omit as much as possible. If that means quitting your job, moving to another city, or removing certain family members from your life, then so be it. But those factors alone are enough to cause even more stress, so talk to someone who won't judge you. My senior year in High School my dad was diagnosed with cancer, who also is an alcoholic, my little brother was locked up in prison, my next older brother was in a serious auto accident and my oldest brother, who also is mentally retarded, was hit by a car. The fact that I was 6'7" and maybe 155lbs at the time didn't really help my self esteem, and all of the above was just another kick in the ass. One day I just sat down and realized that if I didn't do something, I was gonna die!!! I first started with my self esteem. And I think thats a good place to start for you. I too was hungry all the time, but couldn't put away that much food without feeling like I was going to barf. My stomach felt like it was cramped or had folded in half. So by the advice of my friends Dad, who is a Heart surgeon, I started eating 6 - 8 small meals a day. I'll explain the theory behind this in more detail if you like, just email me. But anyways, it helped me THINK that I was eating a lot. And along with hitting the gym and taking your aggression out on the weights, it reduced my stress dramatically. And after a couple of weeks when you start noticing the results, its very powerful psychologically. I'll tell you from experience that life is 99.9% mental. People overcome great obstacles, do superhuman feats, and even manipulate their metabolisms and other bodily systems just through the use of their minds. The placebo effect is just one example of mind over matter!! If you use tobacco, stop, it suppresses your appetite. Cancer patients smoke pot to subdue the feelings of nausea caused by chemotherapy. And don't rule out the fact you just may have something wrong in your stomach. I would check that out first. But like I said, most of the time it's caused by stress and/or some outside force that messes with your psyche. I bet you all these guys that compete for Mr. Universe and a lot of the guys here that bb for pleasure or for sport have very strong minds. You've got to be able to bench 400lbs with your mind before you'll ever physically do it!!! Sounds strange, but whether or not they actually realize what their doing, they ARE doing it!!! God luck, hope this helps... Slim IP: Logged |
