The world Health Organisation has developed a new testosterone ester, testosterone buciclate which is administered in an aqueous solution. A single injection of a single injection of 600 mg of testosterone buciclate results in plasma testosterone levels in the low normal range for about 12 weeks. Comparative pharmacokinetics of testosterone esters: The pharmacokinetics of all testosterone esters for intramuscular injections currently availableare not satisfactory, as explained by H.M. Behre (Germany). After injection supraphysiological testosterone serum levels are measured, with the injection intervals being relatively short. After oral administration of testosterone undecanoate high inter- and intraindividual testosterone serum levels with wide diurnal variations are found. Intramuscular injection of testosterone undecanoate and testosterone buciclate maintain physiologic testosterone serum levels for six to eight weeks or 16 weeks respectively.
