I belive it's the time it remains active in the body if i'm not mistaken but i dont' use insulin. IP: Logged |

do you know what the different times of action are, I know that humulinR begins action in 30min, peaks at 2h and is out of the systm with in 4 hours, what about humalog? ------------------ IP: Logged |

Humalog only takes about 5-10 minutes to activate you better already have some carbs in you when you inject or you will crash!!!! IP: Logged |

DEEP IS RIGHT WORKS VERY FAST MY BUDDY WHO IS USED TO HITTING 50 UNITS OF R GOT HYPO ON 20 OF LOG VERY STRONG START AT 1UNIT AND WORK UP OH YA BECAREFULL AND CARY AROUND SUGAR LIKE IT WAS YOU R BABY BEACUSE THE LOG WILL KICK YOUR ASS ------------------ IP: Logged |

50 iu at once? Damn after 16 units I started to crash once! Luckly I was in a grocery store and I pounded a couple of high sugar drinks right there in the store ....saved my ass..Are you sure it is 50 IU ? you need 10 grams of carbs to dispurse each IU of insulin....that would mean 500 gramsof carbs! The only difference in practical terms is you should take your carbs appr. 15 minutes after the Humalog as opposed to appr 30 mins after the HumulinR. The Humalog is actually a lot safer because its rapid action doesn't permit the multiple spikes one might experience w/ the Humulin. In more technical terms, Humalog begins to exert its influence appr. 10-15 mins after administration and peaks after about 1 hr. It clears the system shortly thereafter (appr. another hr.). THE TRUTH is absolutly right HUMALOG has the identical DNA make up of our own insulin. therefor it works at the same speed as our insulin. HUMALIN R has 2 AMINO ACIDS reversed. IVE used R for years i like it OK but I like HUMALOG much better.much easier to control. HEY I like the post about going out in the grocery store all of us on insulin can sympathize!!!!
