I ahve read that if you exerise more than 5 times per week you shoud be taking minimum of 1 gram per pound of body weight.
The body can handle/process up to 60g in a 2 hour period. Any more than that and it is a waste.

I suppliment twice a day with a protein shake as well as try to get 30-70gs/per meal. I am 6'-4 and 275#'s and Ive been told I need at least 400+ while on a cycle or not...Protein shakes are too cheap to not be getting enough protein..Your wasting your time in the gym if you dont ingest enough protein...I say take 1.5 x your body weight.....

on avg. 1g of protein per pound of body weight.... i heard u shouldnt eat more then 40 -60 grams of protein per sitting: as your bodie can olny absorb so much
if your on a cylce i.e) d-bol etc.... your body handles more....
D-bol works better with the more protien it feeds off it.

the human body can only handle 30-40 grams of protein per sitting. Any more than that and it is wasted.

Keep in mind that the 30-40 g. per ingestion is old research and from an article I read last year, it indicated that the study which gave us this number was done on hospital patients, not bodybuilders. Be careful not to believe "gym science" when it comes to your nutrition.

If you research this topic, avoid the ADA. They want us to eat grains for longevity and economic factors. They don't take into consideration the muscle we tear down during hard core workouts.

If you are training crazy and on AS I would intake good quality whey protein every 2-3 hrs. approx 2X bodyweight in grams total for the day

I believe that protien absorbtion also depends on LBM. Noone can convince me that a 400lbs bodybuilder can absorb only 30 grams of protein every 3 hours and a 100lbs woman can only absorb 30 grams of protien every 3 hours. These two are competely different and therefore can absorb differently.

I think the more LBM you have the more you can absorb , or at least the more that is required to maintain the LBM you presently have. Therefore , the bigger you are the more protien you need.

For me I believe in the 1 - 1.5 grams per lbs of weight. Carbs play a big role because without them you will use alot of that protein as fuel.

At the moment I have been taking 1.25 - 1.5 grams per lbs of LBM or 1.0 - 1.2 grams per lbs of weight.

I also believe that you need to keep your protien intake high on rest days when you are recovering but at the same time I don't think your body needs as much food as a training day since you are not as active.

I have been eating this way and I have been progressing so something is working.

when you consider that steroids put you in a very positive nitrogen balance and increase protein synthesis you would think that the amount you can handle would go up.

if the 30 g rule came from hospital patients, ie people in a negative nitrogen balance, then it might be alot higher for those in a positive nitrogen balance. maybe 70-80 as a guess.
