I was in a fitness show over the weekend and won the Short Class! I didn't do all of the mandatories; however, I pumped out 4 ONE-ARMED PUSHUPS with BOTH left & right arms for a total of 8 right off the bat! I did a couple of other strength moves and was a real hit with the audience. I didn't win the overall. The girl that won had won two bodybuilding shows last Fall. She looked really good - I thought. HOWEVER, when my husband and a couple of friends told me my bodyfat was much less & that she didn't do any strength moves, I thought hmmmmmm, what did I do wrong? Also, they said when she walked offstage that her but* was flabby. When I tried to talk to the judges about what I could do to improve, he told me to do more strength moves. My husband said, "Hell, what more do you want? The overall winner didn't do any strength moves!" Also, one of the judges had trained her AND brought her to the show. So, I guess sometimes, you can starve yourself to death, eat right, train hard, and someone else's opinion just isn't good enough for the overall. I still fell like a winner though! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Congrats on your win!! As for the other dont blame it on the judges. Maybe one was bias to the other competitor. Remember that youre husband's opinion is bias too. Just take it that you got beat and use that anger as determination to work harder and beat the crap out of her and every other competitor on stage next time...Also take the time to get tapes of other shows and watch routines that other people have used. Dont listen to what people say after the show cause it plays mind games on you and can ruin your determintion to get better. Not flamin ya just been there done that...Good luck!!! IP: Logged |

Congrats! You are a winner. Just, sometimes it's who ya know and not what you do. That's part of the game. Just keep doing and going to shows and building contacts. It doesn't hurt to be seen. IP: Logged |

GOOD GIRL!!!!!!! I am very proud of you for all your hard work and determination!!! Always stay in competition with yourself not someone else. Your body composition is totally different than anyone else and all you can do is improve on what you already have, not try to make your self look like someone else's body. Since the overall winner had won previous body building competitions, I am assuming that she had more muscular definition and maturity, which she may have toned down for this competition, and therefore just "looked" stonger when doing her moves. Every competition is different though so don't lose heart. YOU WON AFTERALL!!!!!! I hope I can at least get good enough to compete. I just hit a major change in my routine and diet. I want to be just like you when I grow up!!!! Again, congratualation, fellow Broette!!!! Mrs. Guns IP: Logged |

I think it was the judges because I know that a lot of the routine should involve many strenght moves. I mean of course everything else should be in place but if it was and you did a lot of strength moves then I see no reason why you shouldn't have won. Keep it up and I am sure you will get what you deserve. Congratulations! IP: Logged |

If you did not do all the mandatories then I can see how you may have not taken the overall. That is why they call them mandatories There was a big NPC Judges meeting on how they were going to try and get away from fitness competitors looking like smaller body builders. I've got the whole transcripts somewhere.... I can tell you for a fact - It does help to do more shows and to get your "body" out there. Judges do like to see improvement and consistency in competing. On the bright side - You won your class! Very nice. So how many were in it??? I 100% agree, get the video tape if you possibly can! Thanks SO MUCH for all the wonderful praise & advice! Prior to my next show, I'll DEFINITELY do all the 6 mandatory poses, (although all my strength moves were flawless in this show.) So many people have said Fitness can be political. However, if everyone thought this, there would not be any shows! I guess it's true to a degree. I do plan to do more shows & get my name (& body) out there & noticed! Also, I'd like to do some Fitness modeling but am not sure where to go with that......I've had several people to tell me that I should check into it. I feel so good about myself right now. Gosh, I've got even more "vein-age" than I did at the show last weekend. (Funny isn't it?!) Also, I plan to get my personal trainer certification real soon. I've thought about it for a while now, and with all the people that come up to me at the gym & ask for my advice, I've thought, why the heck not go for it?! Someone asked about pics; however, at this point I don't have the capability of doing that via the Web, yet. Sorry. I love this board! ------------------ IP: Logged |

First of all congrats you have alot to be proud of second you have just given erections to a large number a anabolic beasts like us who long for a female comapanion who shares their same love for the gym. Sorry about the last comment it was the lingering effects of my last sustanon injection. Lastly and most importantly these contests are largely political. Like others said the more you get your name out the better off you'll be. Thats why I believe so many guys in the Olympia repeat they are already firm in the minds of the judges and just have to maintain a high level of performance. NO matter what don't get down on yourself girl you obviously have a lot of potential! Keep Going! I would say live massive, my token phrase that I end all posts with but I highly doubt a girl would appreciate that as much as the rest of us testosterone freaks so GOOD LUCK DEMAROID IP: Logged |
