i just read a post where a guy got busted with stuff in his car.

i thought about this alot. i think if you must transport gear in your car that you should do this:

gather all gear and parephenalia into a box and tape it shut. put an address on it and a few stamps and stick it in your trunk.

if you get pulled over and a search is conducted on your vehicle they will be unable to open the package, since it is now under jurisdiction of the federal goverment. then you may be able to deny knowing what the contents are.

just an idea but worth the time if you must travel with gear.

well it was me that got busted with the gear in my car... I was smoking up and the car got impounded since they could smell the weed. So even though it was hidden under the spare tire I still got F*&#ed...I dont know if that would work or not but its worth a try

why not lock it in the glove box. i would think that they cant open a locked glove box, just poke around inside the car etc. dont they have to ask you to pop the trunk as well? just curious.

You are right about keeping the gear in the trunk, but as far as the tactic of putting it into a box and addressing it, that won't work. The box has to be under the control of the Postal Service before any federal jurisdiction issues arise.
The thing you should realize that is very important about transporting any contraband in your car, is that if you are stopped by a cop, for whatever reason, he has a right to ask you to step out of the car, he can look into the car. If he sees, smells, hears anything that gives him a reasonable suspicion (smells alcohol, smells pot, sees a gun rack, sees a roach, sees a passenger lean over and appear to put something under the seat, see white powder on the seat) that there might be a weapon or drugs in the car, then he can search the passenger compartment and the trunk. Without reasonable suspicion Police still have a right to search anywhere withen grabbing or lundging distance of a driver or passenger to insure that there is no weapon (that most definately includes a locked glove compartment).
Also, if the cop asks you if he can search the car, then he can do what he wants. You don't have to give permission.
Generally cops don't have a right to search the trunk of a car on a routine stop, unless there is something that gives them a reasonable suspicion that there might contraband in the trunk.
The bottom line, police have greater leeway to search a car, and just about anything can give them a reason to look into the trunk if they want to.

Hey dude, that part about not giving consent to search the trunk ain't worth a crap. I got stopped one time for suspision of transporting moonshine (of all the bullshit) anyway, I did not have anything in the trunk, but it pissed me off that they stopped me, so they said I was under arrest for bullshit questioning, so in order to look in my trunk they were going to tow my car, but they had to INVENTORY the car, that includes the trunk. Well after "INVENTORYING" the car and found nothing in the trunk, they said they made a mistake and stopped the wrong car and let me go.....sorry bastards.

Hmm, as far as transporting goes, there's all kinds tricks of the 'trade'. Probably not a good idea to post cuz then Big Brother will look there. Isn't that right?

Don't bother denying them to search your car cause' the second you do they'll start smelling alcohol and weed in your car aswell as seeing powder all over the place. If the cop goes by the book then he'll just make you wait till they get a search warrant(If he wants to)

Yeah! Ha! I think when you deny a cop the right to search the car..Its kind of halleucinogenic phenomonon..They start seeing and smelling all kinds of illegal shit! Been there, done that, got the T-shirt..Just my opinion bros! But there are plenty of cool police officers, don't get me wrong!
