Not trying to start anything here, but over my years of competing I have seen some crazy placings. The first time I saw Superheavyweight Matt Mcglaughlin lose his teenage class to a lightweight with no legs at the '92 VA Beach Grand Prix. Pretty evident on this call. Ask Matt about it. I don't know him personally, but I know he will remember that day. HE EASILY SHOULD HAVE WON. Even the MC said "wow" when this kid stepped out on stage, and the boos from the audience were evident. Second place Fitness Olympia, Kelly Ryan, lost 2 years in a row to two different local bimbos, (bay watch looking chicks) at the local level. She qualified for nationals with a second place locally! Yet wins her card, and than places second at the fitness Olympia. Her shape, routine, never changed....Finally, remember the WBF....ALL THE PROS WHO CROSSED OVER NEVER PLACED AGAIN!! Seems weird that the guys on the cover for years never got anywhere after that. Than when the WBF folded, Weider made them all pay fines to come back....Did'nt they win competition to compete? I never knew that once you complete a contract and go somewhere else, you are judged on who you worked for? (WBF) They won their shows to compete as a pro. Why did they have to pay fines? The people who left the NPC did not have contracts with Weider at that time. All I am saying is that I think if these judges don't start judging more fairly, than bodybuilding will keep ending up as a MEAT HEAD SPORT. I blame the judges and the high school, superficial, "I'm better than you" attitude for this, and unfortunately most of the people competing have a high school mentality.
