I've used melatonin before and yes it's safe. I now use an herbal tea that has valerian root in it and that works great for me. ------------------ | ||

I was only using like 3g of it a night then upped it to 6g cause I had a hard time to sleep again. It's safe, the brain naturally makes malatonin. Look around first don't buy GNC I got the same amount for a buck something that GNC sells for around 10 bucks. | ||

It works fine for me but it makes me a little groggy in the morning. It knocks me out right away but I wake up feeling kind of sleepy the next day. | ||

How is it in the mornings. I take unisom and sominex sometimes and its hell in the mornings. It almost feels like worthless sleep. | ||

If you use barbituates (valume, etc..) I've read the medical facts that they keep your body from reaching stage 4 sleep where you have deep dreams that you would swear were real(REM). Therefore you body doesnt feel rested even after several hours of "downer" sleep. Valerian Root has been used since ancient times to relax your mind and body. You can get it at any herb store. St. Johns Wort and Valerian Root work for me when I need a more natural help relaxing. | ||

I've used melatonin for the last 8 years. I find that it improves my quality of sleep and resets my circadian clock (I keep strange hours). You may need to experiment with the dose, though. | ||

OK I've used UNisom and Melatonin during different times: 1.Unisom - the SHIT (maximum strength) at knocking me out. BUT, I take it at 7:30pm and goto bed at 8:30pm (when I can). I get a great night's sleep and wake up for work w/o being tired at 6am. No waking up while I sleep. @. Melatonin- doesn't work unless I take 3+mg sublinguily (<sp check!). Even then I get interrupted sleep patterns and feel tired the next am. BUT, I use it occasionally to quell the dependance of Unisom. My $.02 | ||
