How the hell do you bake one? I can't seem to find any directions for simply baking them. Thanks.

Skin on, Cut into thirds and wrap in foil.
Throw it on the grill when you start to pre-heat it.
By the time the chicken and steak is done, so are they. If unsure, just make sure that they are soft (stick with a fork).
In the fridge, they will last a week or more.
They taste almost like pumpkin pie.

I wrap them in foil, whole, and bake for like 30-40 min depending on size and how many I cooking at 350 - I like to bake a five or six to have for the week. You can use a fork to poke and it should "glide" right through the yam.

Yams are great because you can leave the skin on when they're cooked, then heat 'em up in the microwave still in the skin. Don't dry out, taste great. I put some molasses on mine. Molasses is all the good stuff that they take out when sugar is refined, btw.

I just poke them with a knife about ten times and throw it in the microwave for 2 1/2 minutes, nothing special.

Best and juiciest way to cook them is like this. Depending on the amount you personally should eat, just dice into fair sized chunks.
Put in a bowl that's at least twice the size of the amount of yams. Add like 1/4 cup of water...color in celophane/seran wrap and cook for a couple minutes. If you cook them uncovered they dry out. Try them this way....they'll stay extremely moist keeping them sweet and easier to eat then dried out ones.....

cheers
