HEY GUYS, I AM ON WEEK 11 OF MY BULKING CYCLE AND TO THIS DATE HAVE NOT DONE ANY CARDIO FOR THE WHOLE 10 WEEKS. LATLEY I HAVE OPENED MY EYES AND WITH WHAT IS HAPPENING TO BIGJAY AND WITH MY DAD HAVING HIS BYPASS SURGARY HOW IMPORTANT CARDIO CAN BE TO KEEP A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE EVEN WHEN BULKING. I THINK I AM GOING TO START DOING SOME LIGHT CARDIO FOR 10-15 MIN 3-4 TIMES A WEEK JUST TO KEEP THE HEART IN SHAPE. JUST CURIOUS AS TO HOW MANY OF YOU DO CARDIO EVEN WHEN BULKING? BEST OF LUCK TO BIGJAY! GET WELL SOON

I run for 15 mins 3 times a week and I think I'm on the same cycle you're on. I haven't had too much water retention which is what I'm trying to stay away from.

I am all for cardio during a bulking phase. I have done cycle where I did no cardio at all, and cycles where I did. I have noticed that I gain good LBM even if I do cardio, but I gain less fat. That is always a plus in my opinion. I try to run about three times a week. The distance & time is dependant on how I feel that day. If I feel good, I'll push myself more than normal. However, if I feel a little worn out then I'll take it easy.

BTW, I haven't heard any news about Big Jay either til now, but I wish him the best.

grab some of the heaviest dumbells in your gym. Atleast the 100's and just take off walking/running as far as you can...then come back. try to make it a couple hundred yards or so...you will feel like dying!!!

Ohhh...be sure and tell the mgr what you are doing...don't want them to think that you are just trying to steal the weights and run out to your car with them or something. Just got that picture in my head of some guy runnning out of the gym with a pair of dumbells, getting in his car and driving off. Or the mgr trying to stop someone who was practicing their farmer's walk...funny.

I know that cardio is best done in the morning but what about when you are on the juice. Better in the morning or at at night?

YOU COULD DO SOME CIRCUIT TRAINING INSTEAD OF RUNNING. I'VE DONE THIS BEFORE AND GOT GOOD RESULTS. THIS ISN'T THE ROUTINE THAT WILL GET YOU THE STRONGEST, BUT IT WILL LEAN YOU UP AND HARDEN YOUR MUSCLES.

WHAT YOU DO IS WORK OPPOSITE MUSCLE GROUPS AT THE SAME TIME. FOR EXAMPLE, DO A SET OF CURLS AND, INSTEAD OF RESTING BETWEEN SETS, THEN GO DO A SET OF DIPS. THEN, COME RIGHT BACK AND DO ANOTHER SET OF CURLS WITHOUT RESTING. THE GOAL IS TO KEEP MOVING FOR THE LENGTH OF THE WORKOUT WITHOUT STOPPING. IF DONE RIGHT, THIS IS VERY EFFECTIVE CARDIO. ALMOST AS EFFECTIVE AS RUNNING.

AN ADDED BENEFIT IS THAT YOUR WORKOUTS ARE MUCH FASTER WHEN YOU CUT OUT THE REST TIMES! INSTEAD OF DOING BACK AND CHEST THOUGH, I DID SHOULDERS WITH BACK AND CHEST WITH LEGS. THIS WORKED BETTER FOR ME.

GOOD LUCK, BRO

I always try to run/walk the treadmill 3-4x per week for about 20-25 minutes a clip, even when trying to gain size.

And i go pretty intense and get a good sweat. Then I eat my breakfast.

Treadmill is by far my favorite cardio machine cuz I can play with the incline and speed and get my whole body moving. I like it so much that I'm going to buy one for my apt. (<---not a request for source...LOL)

I don't know the exact science behind it but it just makes me feel better and keeps the bloat off. Besides I eat so much all day I think its good to kick the metabolism into high gear a couple mornings a week.
