I have tendonitits in my inner elbow, a little below the joint and into my forearm a little. Anyone else have this...what do you do to deal? I am worried that it will continue to get worse to the point that I will not be able to workout.

I have it bro, if its just starting to hurt take a break from lifting and use ice at least 3 times aday and if it hurts on just some exercises like tries or bis, use bengay or icee-hot something to help with the pain and it helps bloodflow also wrap the elbows while lifting.Make sure you do a very light set on lying tris up to 35 reps and you will see a difference in the pain after warming them if you lift and it continues to hurt after warming them just stop completly or you will tear them up. Hope this helps bro!!

got it from skulls also.

I think limiting the range of motion to just coming down to parallel instead of coming all the way down to your head will prevent this injury from happening and may help with an existing one.

Its kind of like coming all the way down to the floor when you do squats and not stopping at parallel. It fucks up your tendons and your knees.

any other ideas for healing this stuff ?

my father has it bad...it started when he was about 25 and has gotten so bad that he cant even lift light weights anymore...it is sad to see because lifting was like therapy for him...the only thing i have heard that dulls the pain is taking a break fom lifting and when you do lift make sure to warm up and wear a neoprene support on your elbow.....

Skull crushers get me too. I feel it right as you start to come down (the very begining of the negative part of the movement). Stangely enough (or not) I also get it real bad doing heavy squats. I have long arms and having the bar "pinned" behind me seems to put a lot of stress on my elbows and outer bi/tri. What is a "nuetral grip"? How does it help? Thanks for all the posts guys, at least we are not alone with this problem. I also posted about adding DECA to my cycles to help this, has anyone tried that or notice less pain if they are using DECA in their cycles.

Stay away from skull crushers and anything else that hyperextends the elbow. After about 2-3 weeks it should be fine....Advil helps too.

If you have access to Ultrasound then USE it!!!
Otherwise, heat before (hot pack or my suggestion- Ben Gay or Flexall 454), slow deliberate warmups, when it starts to really ache-stop. Sometimes an anti-inflammatory such as advil will work wonders to reduce irritation of the tendon. When the workout is complete-ICE.

i used to have this exact same problem, & just like everyone else, it started with skull-crushers. you probably wont think this works, but it does. body-builders have a tendency to build calcium deposits on their elbows from heavy lifting. you need to "rub" the elbow, side of elbow (where-ever it hurts) as hard as you can to break down the calcium deposits. i didnt think it would work when my friend told me to give it a try, but it did. i have told other people to give it a shot & they said its worked for them as well. you should notice a big difference within a week.

what have you got to lose by trying it?

Oddly enough, my orthopaedic surgeon told me to try various forearm strengthening exercises. I still have the occassional pain but by incorporating several different wrist curling movements into my routine I have drastically reduced the incessant pain I had previously.

I'm not familiar with any study or article, if thats what your asking. Just my first-hand experience and that of some people I know. I would rub my elbow, in front of my elbow, back of elbow, etc. as I was watching t.v., at a stop light (you get the picture). I noticed a small difference after a few days, & a dramatic improvement between 1-2 weeks. I tried everything else, & nothing seemed to work (ice, rest, 2400 MG Ibuprofen a day, etc.)

Just to re-iterate, you need to rub your elbow as hard as possible to break down the deposits.
