Annoyance #1 "Hi I'm new, and (I dont have anything to say except this intro)" Why post this? Read read read read read, and search search search search search for a while before posting. The ONLY excuses for someone coming here brand new, and posting away from day 1 is, they ARE experinced, OR, they are one of the dumbasses that jammed a pin in their ass or swallowed a bunch of crap, have NO clue, and are now in trouble. Annoyance #2 "Hey Bro (referring to an experienced person, or a mod) shoot me an email - I have a question." NO. Try the other way around. If someone is experienced, and is helping people on this board, show some respect for their knowledge and time. First off - why not post the question HERE, where the answer can benefit everyone, and the best use is made of the experienced guy's time? Thats just plain smart and respectful. Or, if the question is outside what is "allowed" on the board - fine. YOU write an email to THEM and ask THEM. Not the other way around. I run a 1,000 person closed email list (Topic: Seduction) and we have the same problems. Well, we DID. Now we just boot people who loudly arrive and do not respect the group. Taking note of the above issues will find you to be much more "welcomed", allow you to ultimately learn more, and get more of your questions answered.

Riker, I understand somewhat..but if there is someone new to the board and they want to say hello and introduce themselves..What is wrong with that? ------------------

Prove? Nothing. If one message like that stops 20 "Hey I am new blah " posts, fine. The purpose of such boards is about on-topic-content. Plus, a lot of these new guys get frustrtated becuase ..... ... they announce themselves in some long-winded speech, and within that is buried a bunch of questions, and they get no replies. Then they wonder what is wrong. No one cares about the speech (we are here to learn about AS, what do we care about the life story of some dude who just joined...) ..... or they say "hey so-and-so, email me I have a question" then get frrustrated becuase they dont get the email. They dont THINK or know enough to know that this is not the way it works. BTW - its not a seduction email service, a friend of mine teaches guys how to meet and seduce chicks. We have customer-only email list for discussions. I help run it. And it's one of the cleanest, best run, on-topic groups of people on the net. So, these suggestion I have made are based on experince from that forum. Take 'em or leave 'em. Nothing personal.

Riker.. good points you make for newbies. I will take them to heart. Just remember, that because someone is a dumbass about AS use doesn't mean he or she is a dumbass period. You'll never know what someone has to offer if you don't ask, they don't tell you, or you don't listen 'cos they are new. When the Master governs, the people are hardly aware that he exists. Next best is a teacher who is loved. Next... one who is feared. The worst is one who is despised.

I spelled sust wrong the other day and wrote sest instead..and had like 10 posts with nothing but sarcasm. Basically saying I was a dumb ass because of the small number of posts. Even rookies were posting after mods just for attn:...if mods here and others that responded would have just said," hey, I think you made a typo", that would have been cool..instead I felt like I was in grade -4 with the responses. I may be new to this board and with the gear but everyone is a possible info giving candidate and I have stuff to offer...glad I came accross this thread because I haven't been here since, or posted....... chat soon [This message has been edited by ROM (edited March 25, 2001).]

A lot of these issues are ones simple respect and courtesy. If someone would not take the time to search, and read, and do the work so that he would REALLY become educated, why would one of the experienced guys (or why should he anyway ...) spend their time answering the question? It seems to be sort of a waste. With respect to the bro who mis-spelled, nothing personal, but if you had used the search and all, you probably would not have misspelled the word. Maybe it was just a type thats cool. (again, this is not personal, just a possible explanation as to why you got flamed). My typing blows. On the other hand the thought of many of the experienced guys is that when they see a blatant misspelling or typo and stuff - they think "great, someone else who has not pout forth any real effort, and wants ME to do his work for him."

Why set limits on what and when people can post? Shouldnt that be for the mods to decide? There is nothing in the rules saying "Don't introduce yourself" Interaction is the best way to learn, and I dont want anyone to feel uncomfortable or hesitant to post. |
