What is the reason of drinking 2 gallons of water a day while on a cycle. I am not sure and would like people to clue me in on it

I was always told that drinking that much water actually cuts down on water retention and makes a person more vascualar. Anybody agree?

The decreased water retention is definately true. Being veiny does require a bit of glucose floating around in your blood, but the extra water helps.

Well i have a simple answer. Since gear and high protein diet affects your kidneys as far as their filtering ability (I won't get into specifics):

I believe that thirst is a poor and late indication of dehydration setting in, The human body is a large percantage water.
I drink as much as possible believing that it flush'es the whole system out of toxins, liver kidneys etc.
Not a doctor though so I may stand corrected if any are on the board.

There are several reasons... here are a few.

1.) The best way to get rid of excess water (water retention) is to drink more water.

2.) with all the toxins in your body, ie liver and kidneys, it is best to flush it out as much as possible.

3.) don't underestimate the importance of water while building muscle-mass. if you are trying to build more muscle than normal, why not drink more water than normal.

4.) water has great effects on the skin, keeping it nice and smooth, and helping to fight acne.

there are more... but basically, water is good to have not only on a cycle, but off too.
