Get a Contact Lens cleaner bottle, empty it (It's filled with saline solution so it's already sterile), use a thin guage needle to inject from the AS vial into the empty bottle. Voila! They aren't going to test the contents of the Lens cleaner bottle. It's even better if you can pry the cap off without breaking the seal, hard but it can be done. You can use a couple of different bottles if you are bringing back more than one type of AS. One bottle used as a cleaner and another that contains some kind of protein remover solution. Hope this helps. | ||

Got a question. If you do put it in the contact lens solution bottle, how long will it last in there. What do you do when you get back to the states. Just keep it in the bottle and draw from it? | ||

Keep it in the bottle and draw from it. My friends have done this one more than one occasion and never had a problem. I did it once and never got an infection or anything. Also, store it in the refrigerator to prolong the life of it. Don't know if it's true or not, just a habit I got into a while ago. Mind you, I have no scientific proof that this method is the SAFEST way to transport AS but it has worked in the past for myself and a few friends but do so at your own discretion. My reasoning behind it is, the AS cannot get anymore contaminated than if it were stored in it's regular container. Picture this, you are about to draw from a 10ml vial, most people fill the syringe up with air first to pressurize the vial so it's easier to draw from. At this point have you not already contaminated the contents of the bottle with dirty air? Please, all comments welcome. I am going to do this again this summer, but if someone here has had a negative effect from something like this then let us know. Shakey |
