I just competed last weekend (any guys do the Novice Michigan?). Two years ago when i did the same show i got pretty fat afterwards. Without going into a lengthy diet analysis (I know i ate like shit), what are some of your best tips to keep off the fat post contest? Thanks.

the obvious answers....eat clean, more protein, less fat, moderate carbs. keep in mind that you used to do more cardio precontest than you are doing now....so adjust the calories accordingly. you can eat junk, but keep it in moderation and only eat the junk stuff for 2 weeks or so. the first week after the show really does not put much fat onto your body, just mainly anabolic rebound and water retention. the next week after that can be bad though, you must make a conscious effort to eat cleaner, because it gets easier to keep letting yourself eat crappy as the days go by. i say the first week after the show is a great time to just not care about anything you eat and have fun! but you do need to come back down to earth after the week of rebound....one of the most difficult things to do for me.

PS....my contest weight was 193 last year....2 days later i was well above 220

Thanks for the tips. That's an unreal weight gain! It's been three days and I'm up 10lbs. Would supplements keep the process going or should i wait a week or so before starting back up? Which ones?

you're welcome

if you did gear during the precontest, i am assuming you are coming off of a cycle right now. use all of your usual cycling-off compounds accordingly (such as clomid, arimidex, etc.)

as far as supplements, i would do everything in my power to gain as much muscle weight as possible. use glutamine, creatine, ALA, and lots of protein powder. that should be the core of your supplements for that purpose.

also increase the intake of antioxidants and add some echinasia (sp) to prevent your immune system from failing on you....the worst thing for you right now would be to fall ill. that will kill gains faster than anything else.
