I don't kow about any advantages or disadvantages, but I just base it on how shitty I feel. If I feel that I can handle a descent workout, then I'll give it my best. However, if I feel rough I'll just stay home & rest. ------------------

It all depends on how sick i am. I only usually get colds (stuffy nose, sore throat, ect) so I always train through that. If I have the flu or something and can't hold anything down I'm eating and am weak, then I will listen to my body and rest a few days until I feel I can go at it again.

You should be OK as long as you are not running a fever. If it is just a cold, breaking a sweat can be just what the doctor ordered. Hope you get to feeling better. ------------------

stay on your juiice. Don't work out, just try and sleep as much as possible and take vitamins. grab your self some echinacia(sp?). Just make sure you eat like a beast even though you are sick. I usually eat till i'm nausous, and i dont lose any weight.

Pretty much what the others said, if it's a cold I'll still go, maybe reduce the volume a bit. Today I skipped Squats because I felt like absolute shit. Skipped classes too HEHE. I slept about 20 hours total so far, and feel alot better. Think I'll return on Friday.

As a general rule, you can provide this principle: If the cold is below your neck, don't work out. If its above your neck, work out. I'm sure you can see several contraindications to this but the reasoning behind this theroy is that working out will increase blood flow to problem areas allowing a greater accumilation of white blood cells to fight off the infection. You shouldn't workout if you have fever as you may easily over heat. If the infection is in your digestive system, you need to rest. If you have pnemunoia or other lung sickness (not common cold) then you need to rest.
