this post belongs to diet board, but it would take forever to get a reply.. how many of you guys consume peanut butter while cutting.if so how much? my trainer told me to add a big table spoon of it everynite to my protein shake. supposedly it would keep the metabolism going while asleep and although its high in fat, that fat helps you burn fat. etc, etc.. something along those lines.... thanks [This message has been edited by andre (edited March 20, 2001).] | ||

peanut butter is not fatening. Your trainer is asking you to do this to get the good fats from the peanut butter. Poloy and monounsaturated fats are good fats and are very high in pb. It's almost like using flax oil without the omega fatty acids. For cutting I would use flax oil instead. This is what I use in my shakes when preparing for a show. ------------------ | ||

I love the stuff, the only thing is you have to try and get the natural stuff as its full of poly and mono unsaturated fats. A lot of the big commercial brands here have too much 'hydolysed fats' (ie Saturated). I go to a health food shop to get mine. ------------------ | ||

The reason he asked you to take the Peanut butter w/ the protein shake was that fat slows down the absorption of protein leading to a longer protein release time. Which is very beneficial when one wants to maintain an anabolic environment during sleep. Godspeed | ||

where do u get the natural peanut butter? my problem is i like the stuff, sometimes i dont feel like stopping at one spoon, end up consuming 3 or 4 tablespoons of it.. since i am trying to cut, i didnt know if i should keep it in my diet. cause if i buy it, i think i eat alittle too much... | ||

I would get the creamy stuff cause I have problems with the peanuts clogging up my needle ! No, seriously, I love the shit too. Believe it or not its hard to find where I'm at. I have a friend from the states send me a case from sams every once in a while. | ||

Goto a local health food store and they should have it. After you mix the oil with the peanut butter, keep it in a fridge. I am not sure of the validity to it, but Charles Poliquin once said that peanut butter has some estrogenic effects to it. Of what he meant, I don't have any idea. I take a shake with flax seed oil (udo's) before I go to bed. Fonz said it when he stated that fat slows down the absorption of protein and carbs. Guar gum will also slow it down. ------------------ | ||

yeah get the natural shit. The other shit uses partially and fully hydrogenated vegetable oils. That is what keeps the peanuts and the oils together it also makes all the fats bacically saturated. They also add alot of sugar. But keep the natural shit in the fridge because it doesn't have the preservatives. |
