For the last month I have been having a pain runs from my elbow along the top of my arm for about 6 inches.. it hurts if i grab something and squeeze it with an overhand grip..but not an underhand..it felt at first like just a strain..but now it is not healing..I can do regular dumbell curls and don't notice it..but if I do hammers it really hurts...any ideas on what it may be? And yes I do have a doctors appointment coming up... ------------------

I have the same problem, but its more of a hammer grip. Its on the side of my bicept and it kills. I ware a brace and ice everyday. I got vioxx, but I'm out. It helped a little. The only way to make it stop is rest. ------------------ "Catch a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he eats for a lifetime."

If you haven't been playing any tennis it isn't tennis elbow. That is caused by the shock recieved from hitting the ball. I'm sure you could have bitch smack elbow if you have been smacking any bitches lately. That is similar to tennis elbow. Later. ------------------

you do not have to play tennis to have tennis elbow... I myself have it... it's from compensating with your wrist while doing upper body exercises.... try wearing a brace made for tennis elbow, and when you are doing curls, concentrate on contracting your bicep only, and keep your wrist straight and locked.... that has helped me... also some anti-inflammatories may also help with a little bit of the tendonitis that is associated with it.... try and squeeze your forearm with your unaffected arm, and see if the pain goes away(or greatly minimized). if it does then it probably is lateral epicondalitis, tennis elbow. get a brace and some anti-inflammatories. if you have insurance that will cover it, go see a chiropractor and have heat/ultrasound/ice therapy.

slipperypete, if the pain is on the outside of the elbow it is called a tennis elbow, because these guys are the ones who get that the most. When it is on the inside of your elbow, it is called a golf elbow. For the same reason. You don't have to play golf either to get that. ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short |
