A few people I've talked to said that you will always eventually lose your gains. I guess I'm lookin' for a few guys who've had a number of years experience, and what kind of luck they've had in keeping their gains without necessarily constantly using AS.

You will lose your gains, if you stop working out and eating right you will lose everything. If make a choice in your life to train sleep and eat right you will maintain your gains for a long time.

yes you will retain your gains if you keep working hard and eating...unless you use the amount of sauce that Pros use.

Bullshit! Your body goes through some serious major changes when you are on a AAS cycle.

Permant change #1---
Your strength gains are tremendous, you are pushing more weight around, your bone, tendons, and other connetive tissues are stressed from this increased load. They don't atrophy as fast or even not at all. From that point on, your capcity for strenth is forever changed.

Change #2---
When pushing more weight your body becomes more neurological efficant. You "learn" how to fire muscles and fiber recruitment patterns change. Neuron also don't atrophy fast and some never at all.

Change #3---
Blood vessels (caplieries) feeding the new muscle mass develop, these also stay around

Change #4---
The connetive tissue seath surrouding the muscle fibers stretches out allowing for more growth. Since this seath is not elastic, once it is stretched it doesn't regain its shape.

shall I go on...

Someone who does AS will always be bigger than those who did not. I see them all the time in my gym. Guys from the 70's who are 55 now. They haven't been on in years but they don't look like the one's who never used.

my experience-

july weighed 148(highest i had ever weighed)..did a 2 week cycle of sus and primo..went up to 160..kept working out hard for about another month..still weighed 160..broke up w/girlfriend..felt like shit..stopped working out..between october and january my weight fluxuated between 152 and 154..started working out again first week of febuary..worked out hard and ate well currently weigh 159 and havent used juice since july of 2000..so im a firm beleiver that AS stays with u, especially if u used primo..

What you are talking about is muscle memory. That happens with or without gear. I believe what he was asking are the gains permanant. No nothing is permenant. If I was to stop working out and eating properly, my muscle will turn to fat. I will lose muscle tone and my body will transform to mush. If I start training hard and eating properly I will get back to where I was easier because of muscle memory. To maintain gains contiuous training and proper diet is a must to keep your body composition.

Allright lawnsaver I cant let this pass. First and formost, muscle does not turn into fat. You may get fat and loose muscle but they are two separate things.
Secondly, yes it is muscle memory. If you do AS and gain significant amounts of muscle, then years later your will still be "" big"" compared to a non-user.

Most of the guys I know that "used to cycle" are still much bigger than the average gym rat. I always wondered about some permanent gain from past AS use.

We all know what Lawnsaver is trying to say. He just didn't use "proper" terms. Your both right, muscle never turns into fat, but if we eat the same and don't exercise...it "turns" to fat. (Loss of muscle, increase of fat storage....hence the mistaken phrase "turns to fat".) Lawnsaver is a good source of information...give him a break!

It was a figue of speach. If you stop training, do you think you will keep you muscle tone? No you wont! Years later you might keep your size, but how will you look if you dont train and eat right? Horrible. But if you train and eat right again, muscle and strength will come back faster. Muscle memory.

Why is it so hard to understand my point??

lawnsaver, it's because it's an old myth that no one can stand to have around. Ya just touched a collective bodybuilding nerve, that's all.
