Last night i took a 3cc shot of sust. It hurt more than normal, but not too bad, but today there is a red spot (about the size of a nickel) and it is kinda lumped out, not like an abcess, but i'm afraid what it could turn into. When i was preparing the shot i put the sterile needle in my mouth while i used the bigger pin to pull the liquid out. This is the first time in 4 years i've ever experienced anything like this (knock on wood), what do you guys think? ------------------     | ||

I doubt it is an infection just a bad bump. It happens. But why are you rolling needles around in your mouth? | ||

is the area hot? If so it could be an infection. If the area gets larger or turns hot to the touch better go to the doc. | ||

I have to ask ,Did you start to drink it and change your mind? lol If not why did you put it your mouth? I don't know if you can get a infection from it but you should have put alcohol it afterward just in case. | ||

If the area is hot and swollen, you should probably head to the doc. If it is infected and it goes systemic, it can be highly dangerous and could potentially kill you. | ||

Tall Dude is right. An infection can potentially kill you, but beleive me, you would have to have a very high pain threshold for that to happen. I had an abcess cut and drained last year.....had a lump the size of a grapefruit, my entire leg was throbbing, fever, splitting headache, sick to my stomach. Literally crawled to the doc. i had a little knot for about a week or two, then it kept getting worse and worse. Keep an eye on it. D. | ||

To all who asked, I had the needle with the cap on it held in my mouth while i pulled out the sust with the 20g needle. Itdoesn't feel hot, so it probably is just a bump, next time i'll be more careful. thanks !!!!!!!!! ps....if i have to go to the doc, should i tell him the truth? ------------------ | ||

its probaly nothing, just give it some time, you can put a heating pad on it or take some anti-histamines....happens every once in a while..... ------------------ | ||

Roidranger (or anyone else), since this morning it has almost doubled in size, but the redness is turning to bruise. (you can still feel the knot, its just not sticking out as much) I DEFINITELY learned my lesson on sterility, how could i have been so fucking dumb!!!!!!!!!!!!??????? How long should i wait before i go to the doc if it doesn't get better? ------------------ | ||

I have had some large bumps from shots before and they always go away within a week. I talked to a student of mine that is a surgeon and she said its very very very rare that any infection would kill you 1 in a million. And only if you didnt have it taken care of. But if it gets worse instead of better over the next week go see the doc. In the meantime just calm down you should be fine. | ||

human bites are a big cause...if left untreated for gangrene(spelling?). thats right, the scourge of the modern peicillin dependant world...and just so ya know...gangrene is allmost as bad as leperosy. it just doesnt spread after treatment...keep the needle away from your mouth...as im sure you realized by now... |
