protein impede your diet? Uh...No. Yes, you should follow up your workout with a quality protein shake. EVERY meal should contain quality protein. Most guys say AT LEAST 1g protein per pound of bodyweight.

You new to the training game?

protien is the building block of muscle according to my chemistry teacher. so don't you think that when your break down your muscle by lifting, you should add more protein so that it builds it back up bigger and stronger? does that make any sense to you, don't know if i put it in good terms or not.

if you are not consuming 1gram of protein per pound you weigh then you are wasting your time working out-you will never see the results you want.

I am with Beezer on this, but protein is the most important ingredient in the game. More important than any AS or Supplement. If you don't consume large amounts of protein on your low fat diet you will most certainly become fatter.. You will have to consume most of your calories from Carbs which are easily converted into Fat. Chris Aceto just recently wrote a very easy to read book on Fat loss. It explains most everything, but most importantly insulin levels and spikes. which really control your fat stores. I read the book last month, but cannot remember the name off hand. Also my favorite book on Diet of all time is Bodyopus by the late Dan Duchaine, but this book is more technical. Good luck.
