after my friend injects and pulls the needle out a large stream of blood comes out and flows out. it goes for a about a min. no blood comes in the plunger when he pulls back though. he also usually bruises around the site. any ideas as to why this happenes?

That just happened to me for the first time Monday in my right delt. Only bled for about5 secs though and a small circular bruise appeared. I trust the friend who injects me (hes an EMT). I assume its from overusing injection sites. I watch every injection i get and never has blood been drawn back. Does this happen all the time and at which sites? Perhaps it's the way the needle is being drawn out.

your injecting to stuff to quik or when the needle is pulled out its at an angle and slices the tissue under the skin. use a smaller pin it will take longer but wont flood the tissue and leaves a smaller hole so you get less chance of it coming back out i like the 23's they go in effortlessly but again takes while to inject also bring the needle back a little as you inject about 1/4 inch total for some fresh meat.

GUYS....the reason you bleed...is because you might have cut a vein on the way in....its no big deal... to be on the safe side, when you put the needle in....draw a little....to see if you get a vein...if blood comes out...put the needle out and re-inject! ------------------

as long as theres no blood in the plunger then ur safe. but the problem could be that ur injecting too fast or ur pulling out at a weird angle and r damaging the skin as u pull the needle out. or it could even be that u r injecting thru a surface vein....causing the steady flow of blood and hance the bruising. just tell ur friend to inject perpendicular to ur skin and inject slowly, and try a slightly different spot next time u inject. |
