Here's the deal: I want to get gyno surgury. Not immediately, but within the next 6 months, after I get my bodyfat down.
Questions:

1)What do I do first, contact the insurance company to see if they will pay for it? Or see a doc, get him to diagnose me with naturally occurring gyno, then take that to the insurance company?

2)I am a student covered on my parents insurance plan. Is there any way to keep the whole deal from them? I'd just rather not have to deal with them on this. How does correspondence with the insurance company work? Can I keep it between me, my doc, and the insurance company? Can I just pay the deductable and thats it? No bills or notices sent to the parents???

Okay, so thats more than two questions. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i have a guess to say you would see the doc first to see if there is alternatives other than go straight to the insurance company with your own diagnosis of surgery, i dont think they would appreciate that.

why do you want to keep it from your parents.just tell them that my nipples are really sore and it hurts me to even where a shirt.your parents dont need to know about you r roid use but i think you should tellthem about the surgery.first thing to do is go to your primary care docter that your ins covers and play stupet.dont mention the word gyno.just say your nipples are really hurting you and you cant take thepain anymore.he will then send youto a specialist and if they think its necessary they will give you a sonagram or mammagraphy to check for cancer.you must convince them that since pubrty you have had some pain but now its unbearable and most likely they will cover you.DONT MENTION GYNO OR ROID USE.make sure your clean at the time.hope this helps

If you live with or close to your parents I think they will know if you just had surgery. You will have to wear a funny bra under your shirts for about six weeks.

Find a plastic surgeon that will work with your insurance company and encourage them to cover it. I had mine pre-approved after my doctor explained they needed to take a biopsy to make sure it wasnt canercous. My gyno was small enough that the biopsy included the entire lump from both sides.

Thank you insurance!!

Don't tell your doctor about roid use, marijuana use, or pro-hormone use. If you tell him you did those, he will write it down, the insurance company will read it, and refuse to cover it because they will consider your gyno as self-induced due to those substances. Then you have to pay 2-3 grand. Tell him you had it since teen years, and recently it seems to have gotten worse.

unfortunately dude, if you are on your parent's insurance, they will receive an invoice regarding the procedure done... even if you pay the deductible... just do as the other bro's said... tell them your nipples are hurting, and you don't know why... just make sure you would test clean(gear-free) just in case the doc would wanna run one...

Good luck getting them to pay a dime. My insurance just said hell no, it's cosmetic.
