I'm going to Cancun on Thursday but my fucking dumbass forgot to get a passport! It's too late for that and I don't have my birth certificate because it's in my parents house in another state. I'm not sure they will be able to find it in time and get it up to me. What are my other options? I heard you can go to the airport and get a temporary pass. Is this true?     | ||

I go to mexico all the time, have never been hassled for a passport, espically if you look like a typical american, eg. you were born here and not Africa, Asia or the Middle East. Even then a valid license has always worked for me. Be sure and have ID for your travel checks or a ATM card. Mexicans in Cancun make us in California look uptight. You may be able to go to the american embassay if there is one and they could issue some form of turist visa. Or call the Mexican embassy here in LA. Or Finally you could call the American Embassy in Mexico City and they could take care of you. | ||

I am almost positive the birth certificate needs to be authentic, with a raised seal and all. Hope you get to go, just got back Friday and that place is fuc$ing crazy, best time of my life. Good Luck. | ||

dude, i just got back yesterday. i was in the same jam. i just went to the county records for the county i was born in and they gave me an official copy, which says not for use of immigration. but it worked for me. and the first thing i was asked for before boarding was for my driver's license and birth cert. | ||

When I went to Cancun for my senior trip, 3 years ago none of us had passports. They didn't require one. YOu probaly don't even need one. | ||

Freakmonster, It's true. You will need an ORIGINAL copy of your Birth cert. Go down to the county court house, and just get it! If your lazy about it, you are gonna get fucked. If you are working today, take a half a day or somethin, otherwise your trip is not gonna happen. It will take about a half hour, and they charge about 10 bux (last time I remember). Good luck!!
