I am trying to cut up while maximizing mass. I know these are conflicting goals, however, I have a question. I am currently doing 25 minutes on a recumbent stationary bike four times a week at high rpms and average resistance before working out. I have the Ride for the Roses coming up and I am wondering will I burn more fat going three times a week for an hour and change on a road bike or continuing the program I am on? Thnx, Crash

What is the Ride for Roses?Just wondering. Is is like a bike race or something. Thats what i'm going to assume. First off your doing 25min of cardio 4times a week before your workout(what workout? weights training or something else) If your weight traing after doing cardio have you ever thought about weight traing first then hitting your cardio that way you can maximize your strength(for the weights)and max. your fat oxidation for the cardio after. Just a thought. Also your doing 100min/cardio a week right now, and if you switch to 1hr/3times a week, you will be doing 180min/week. You will burn more Kcals by doing 180mins/week over 100min/week. As far as using a stationary bike over a road bike. I have no personal experience on this, but from what I hear the road bike is harder. But varitiety is the spice of life, so change things up, so one day do stationary then the other hit the road bike. Also as far as cutting up will maximizing your mass, its not impossible, but you will need to pay close attention to your diet, and how your body is responding to your workouts. Good luck!

Thanks for that response. The Ride for the Roses is a cancer benefit in Austin, Tx. I had assumed that the longer ride three times a week would be better, but I wasn't sure. I was using the logic that cardio 4 times a week vs three might be a better fat burner because I would be doing it 4 days rather than 3. I find that if I don't do the cardio first I won't do it. I hate doing cardio, but I know it's necessary. Thanks again. |
