dnp messes up t4-t3 conversion right?...so if I just got done taking dnp and got a blood test for tsh, test, and cortisol done for something unrelated to dnp....my tsh would be up right?....because I am not getting enough t3 conversion....so this might backfire on me here...I might get diagnosed with hyperthyroidism if my thoughts are correct... I am not a hyperthyroid type person...I am actually pretty chubby for this board and 10-11%...this will blow if it goes down the wrong way..i am a little worked up so forgive me if my brain is not working right..thanks in advance

A little lesson in Endrocrinology for you: From what I know, DNP inhibits peripheral conversion of T4 to the more potent T3. Since T4 is the hormone that is primarily involved in the negative feedback loop to the anterior pituitary, and T4 levels might actually be increased for you (b/c less is being converted to T3), TSH might actually be DECREASED. A DECREASED TSH level from the lab would raise suspicion of hyperthyroidism, not the opposite, like you stated. So, in answer to your question, your lab results may make your doctor think that you are slightly hyperthyroidic, due to the DECREASED TSH. Later. ------------------

cuts...thanks for your reply...this is a tricky one..there are more than one type of hyperthyroidism...i guess we are both right..i thought of secondary hyper and you thought of primary hyper..so i guess i really am in the clear either way once they check the other thyroid hormones..just didn't know that dnp only affected t3-t4 conversion.. and not anythiong else...hmm good to ponder this though..i guess we will know more about this when the results are in...
