The local Marine Corps reserve just piss tested everyone in the unit. A couple of my friends who are in the unit are worried about them testing for steroids. Does anyone know if they do or not?

I would say no. From what i've heard, juice tests are very expensive and are normally not done with regular drug tests. Only when they are specifically called for. Usually, the biggest worry for the USMC is drugs. But of course, you never now. Semper Fi

Don't worry about it. They're not testing for anabolics in a normal unit screen like that. (I'm a former USN urinalysis coordinator.)

Luv2Lift, do you know if BUD/S candidates, trainees, or active SEALs are tested for steroids?

Halo, no they are not. However you will have the standard blood & urin work done which may illude to the use of something, as might your blood pressure, red cell count, hdl/ldl ratio or anything else. Why do you ask? [This message has been edited by beefmaster (edited March 10, 2001).]

Luv2Lift maybe you can clear up some rumors. I know that they don't test for gear but is it true that they don't test all the bottles. That they only do some and just take the rest as deterent?

Beef, because I'm planning to go into that career field and I wanted to clear up some of the rumors I've heard. People have told me there is a small but significant amount steroid use in the Teams; they've also told me that BUD/S trainees have been dismissed because of gear use. I'm not planning to use; just curious about the people I'll be working with. Do you have some connection to the Teams?

Without turning my self over to NIS/DIS and all the other yahoo's all I'll say is that Yes I am "close" to a Special Boat Unit. Your right about them dabbling in gear after pinning and earning your right to talk some trash, but no more than any other organization. As for your career path there is currently a push to accept a slacker here and there due to the attrition and drop out numbers being so high(over 44% the past FY), but I think the standard will remain as high as ever. Good luck and plan on learning one hell of alot about yourself.

As others said it too expensive. They're looking for cocaine, weed, X and etc. They would have to be suspicious of you using and really want to bust your ass. I've read that many Marines us AS to max that PT test. Also I read that Captains and Colonels us AS. You see as you spend some more years in.

Halo--sorry not sure if SEALs or other elite units test for AS. Without reasonable cause, I would say not. wacked--what you heard is true (or used to be), not all samples are tested. I know that personally. L2L |
