Did anyone read the article at t-mag this week about calculating maintainance calories?

According to that article, I need to be eating just over 6000 kcals on workout days, and just over 5000 kcals on non-workout days. This is based on my weight of 275 lbs at 15% bf, which leaves me with 235 lbs of lean mass. I was even fairly conservative with most of the multipliers.

This just blows my mind. I didn't eat that many calories while I was bulking. Does anyone else think its next to impossible to eat 1000 kcals/meal, 6 times per day, while still eating clean? How can this be done without fast food, massive carbo weightgainers, etc?

What do you guys think about this?

I'm 220 @ 11-14%, I can eat just about 5000 cals. clean, add about 40-50g fat a day to that and I'm almost half way.

I eat most of the cals. for the day pre/post workout. I know most don't eat simple carbs pre but I do and it makes workouts better for me.

Thats about my limit, any more than that and I don't feel good.

Yes it is possible. I do it. Here's how, 100% clean. Shakes are a must.

1. 1000 cal carb/protein shake
2. 500 cals of oatmeal dried, sloshed down w/ water, and steak.
3. 1000 cals of number 2.
4. 500 cal shake before workout, 2 hours before.
5. 1000 cal , honey, maltodextrin, or some other hi-gi carb, and whey, post workout shake.
6. 1000 cals, 1 steak, 2 cups dried oatmeal, udo's choice oil. (use small amount of oil, insulin will still be kicking at this time.)
7. 1000 cals, 1-2 steaks, protein shake, udos oil and oatmeal.

I currently am eating 5000 cals/day because 6000 doesn't seem to make any difference for my ass. I am natural, 18 years old, and weigh 190 lbs.

my dad is getting around 5500 cals per day. He downs 6 N-Large (600 ea)in water, so 3600 cals right there. 5 chick breasts per day, so add another 1,000 for 4600 so far. 2-3 cans of green beans, so another 400 cals,up to 5000, and a nice helping of steak or fish for dinner, makes it 5500-6500 per day. He is actually losing fat, and has put on alot of muscle. He is on 750 Sust,500 EQ,40mg Dbol per day with 400mg Deca every 12 days.

Damn, that is just so much eating. I guess my confusion comes in thinking that there is no way that I could lose weight if I were eating 5000 kcals/day, but I guess thats not the case. You guys are all a lot lighter and eat your brains out.

Any other heavyweights out there?

I am 250 +/- a couple, and I find it hard to eat that much. I am just not that hungry all the time. I see what you're saying Stone Cold. I just had 2 Steak, Egg and Cheese bagels from McDonalds for Breakfast at 8:30am and I am still full.

glad someone feels the same... even if its a shake, 1000 kcals REALLY fills you up. Trying to do that everythree hours is painful.

StoneCold, I agree with you. It is impossible without the use of shakes. Notice all those diets above have some sort of shake included. Your question was, "How can this be done without fast food, massive carbo weightgainers, etc?" Judging from all the shakes listed, they are definately weight-gainer shakes.

t-mag sells supplements (including weight gainers)

Telling you you need to get more cals is a marketing ploy to get you to buy more shakes.

supplement companies are all hype.

Im 5'10" and weight at 235 lbs, it seems that i dont grow any more on a 5000 cals whilest trying to bulk up. Personally i dont think that you can ingest 6000+ cals from clean diet. I'll be doing 7000+ cals in my next cycle. 2000cals will be junk food (cakes, ice cream , mc donalds). Sure i will get fat also but then i'll cut it down with some DNP.
