(Not bragging by the way, just wanted to compare to everyone else..)

stats are

what do u do? I've always been weak for my size. I should be lifting alot more then that.. But oh well. I can only rep 225 x 15 reps on bench as of Monday and thats weak as hell for someone who weighs over 240lbs.

what exactly constitutes strength? I know alot of guys way smaller then me that are strong as hell.. I mean, I look like im pretty big but I can't lift as much as you would think.......... As long as I look good, I guess that's all that matters.

DUDE, THAT'S A GOOD DEAD. 99% OF THE GUYS OUT THERE OUR SIZE WOULD SLIP A DISK IF THEY TRIED THAT. A GOOD DEAD TAKES YEARS TO ACHIEVE - SHIT, YOU'RE ALREADY THERE. NICE WORK, BRO.

i am sorry but everybody comes on here sucking everyone off. i dont know if u guys have never seen any good lifters of what. now spunky truthfully that is not a lot of weight for your bodyweight. i lift with a 18 year old kid that can do that and he only weighs 165. now i am not telling u this to be a dick, but just to show u that u can do a shit load more.

Hey, give him a break about the bw thing. Alot of the taller guys are just not built to DL. I'm 5'5" and In the DL I can trash taller guys who squat alot more than me.

would rather have the big squat though

whats the point in trashing on him?
its a new PR, that means he's improving right? Isn't that our purpose here? I don't care who can lift what, if you're improving, thats impressive, and something to be proud of.

Don't worry about it. The deadlift is my worst lift. My best is 455 at 190. I've squatted 540 at the gym. There is more technique to deadlifting than most people realize. Do you use sumo or conventional. If you are tall, then conventional is probably better. I'm just basing that on talking to other powerlifters. Few tall guys use sumo style. Make sure you start with the bar touching your shins. The bar should be touching your legs all the way through the lift. Wear long socks pulled up as far as they will go. This will reduce some friction. When I go heavy I usually use baby powder on my legs to further reduce friction. You may try deadlifting barefoot or with wrestling shoes. Most tennis shoes have at least 1" in the heal. That is an extra inch that you have to pull the weight. For assistance exercises try doing box squats. I'm not talking about squatting on a bench that only lets you go half way down. Use a low box that lets you drop below parallel. Then pause while you are on the box instead of bouncing off of it. This builds strength for driving the weight off of the ground. Don't worry about the poundage. Most people couldn't roll a 485 lb. bar down a hill.

deads are my weak link also which i go up to 475 at a couple of sets of 3 to 5 but best single is 520 but should be better considering i'm so short.squat is around 550
and last monday hit my all time bench at 425 with a pause and no shirt.i thought this was a a good bench until i seen that george guy hit 683 at 198 at the arnold!i feel and this is no shit that i will hit 500 on the bench someday but i need advice from an experienced powerlifter. ihave had people tell me i was built for power lifting but it is probably too late to get in to it at 26. currently 5'5 at 218 but know i can still hit the same weights in the 190's or even less cosidering i am at an uncharacteristic 12%bf.

During the height of my past bulking phase I was 6' 240lbs. I deadlifted 585lbsx2. The second rep I pulled out of my ass. I was shaking like a dog shitting bones...

I dont go heavy on deads. I use a max weight of 405, I get a few good reps outta it, so no biggie. Im more into BB'ing than powerlifting. I prob deadlift 1x per month. Thats good if you ask me. I mite be able to get 500 or more, so what you did is good if you aske me.

485 X 2 is not bad. Why not try skipping deads for awhile, and do some cleans. Work up to 3 x 3 of bodyweight, and it'll make you feel snappy, plus it'll make your whole shoulder girdle look thicker.
