I have his Encyclopedia and the MuscleMag "Arnold Edition", which talked all about his training. He talks about training bodyparts up to 3x a week prior to competition. Today we say once a week or maybe two. Then he would do reverse preacher curls every other day. Now did you think he grew w/ this much working out due to AS? On top of that I watched Shawn Ray's video where he mentions overtraining is a myth and some writer made that up. What do you guys think about all this???

IT DEPENDS OF YOUR BODY, AN WHAT WORKS, DORIAN DID LOW VOLUME WORKOUTS(FEW SETS PER BODY PART) LEE PRIEST DOES A SHIT LOAD OF SETS, IT DEPENDS HOW YOUR BODY ADAPTS,,,SAME WITH THE SPLITS, IF YOU RECOVER FAST YOU CAN WORKOUT A BODYPART TWICE, BUT 3 SOUNDS A BIT HIGH, REMEMBER ARNOLD WAS A PRO, THEY DO STUFF THAT WE WILL NEVER KNOW THEY DID...

SO MY GUESS IS THAT OVERTRAINIG DOES EXIST, I HAVE PROVEN THAT TO MYSELF AND I HAVE OVERTRAINED IN THE PAST... BUT SOME PEOPLE USE IT AS AN EXCUSE NOT TO DO ENOUGH SETS, IMO.

He overtrained, no doubt. Got good results because of all the gear he used, but I believe that he could have even grater muscles if he would have trained with Mike Mentzer or Casey Vitor (he did a few times).

That came from his Encyclopedia....

Anyway, he grossly overtrained. Even with AS helping the muscle fibers themselves heal quicker, the rate at which energy can be replenished is not nearly as high. Ever notice him squating really heavy, or benching 500 pounds? The only heavy thing he did was cheat curls, and by cheat curls, I MEAN CHEAT curls.

He overtrained, but it worked, for his time. If he had access to the higher quality protiens avaliable, synthol, and hGH/Insulin practices of today, he would be bigger, no doubt.

i heard that about the bike too, it was in his first paperback book that he wrote. He said he couldnt make it back home from the gym without falling off his bike many times from exhaustion. That is awsome!!!!!
