The new april issue has a picture of Kevin Levrone and Arnold on the front. Arnold was considered a freakin monster in his day. Look how small he looks next to modern day guys! It's crazy to look at!! What do you think? ------------------    | ||

For one thing, Growth Hormone is a fairly recent drug. They had it in the 60's but had a lot of problems with it. I don't think they came back out with a safer version till the 80's. Past Anold's time | ||

I don't care how ridiculously huge the new guys get, Arnold is still the best. He's the one I look up to the most. I don't know what it is, he just looks the best to me. And his work ethic and whole attitude and philosophies.. I just got his revised encyclopedia on bodybuilding today. The best book I've ever bought. I highly recommend it. | ||

Arnold competed at 260 back in the day. I dont care how small he looks on the cover of the mag, he was alot bigger than levrone. I saw them both at the classic and arnold was still a bigger guy than levrone. Levrone is short and arnold was tall and arnold still was bigger. Arnold had 23 inch arms when he competed, and thats all bigger ronnie colemans are now. Levrone is just another bodybuilder , Arnold is the KING!!!!!! | ||

At Arnold's best shape, I beleive 1974 Mr.Olympia he was 6'1.5" , 235lbs, and had 21.5 inch arms. No match for today's size. He was probaly 245-260 in the off season I reckon | ||

My info came out of the pumping iron book, it says he was 240 in the off season and bulked up to 260 for contest. Also says 22.5 to 23 inch arms. That is big . He did compete sometimes at a lighter weight early in his career but the more olympias he won the heavier he was. | ||

read that arnolds drug of choice was primo. Franco Columbo basically said exactly what is being eluded to in this post-that he and Arnold did not have access to these drugs that are used today and I know synthol wasn't around. Columbo said it makes all the difference in the world-by the way has anyone seen the picture in musclemag from about 2 months ago comparing steve reeves to a cartoon blown up swollen, distended, gyno balding veiny freak with needles sticking out of every muscle and a bottle of pump'n swell at his feet and one word above the comaprison.---Progress? | ||

Arnold was the king--but their is no way he competed at 260 or even 240---he had small legs----He was probably around 230 ----Lee Haney competed at around 236(true weight) he was listed much heavier and Haneys alot bigger then around was-----although I still think Aronld look better-----I dont matter anyway---their will never be another Arnold -- | ||

They also didnt cycle, they continued use year round. Arnold was incredible for his time, and I DO think he has the best physique IMO, but sergio was better in 72 and retired because of the BS. Someone posted a link to a interview with Oliva. I would dig it up if I were you and read it. If you think Arnolds arms are the same size as colemans, you need glasses. Ronnie has LEGIT 23" arms. Arnold was the first bodybuilder in europe to have 20 inch arms and that was at 19. U need to read up on him alittle more before u say he was so much smaller . Before he came to america, he and franco did powerlifting routines to add size. That is why he was so big back then.So i think it is u my friend who is misinformed. | ||

Im with WC on this one, arnolds arms were never over 20" cold, yes he has better symetry than todays pros, but much smaller. IMO Sergio, and Zane had the best symetry. The majority of todays pros have legitimate 22" plus guns, and Ronnie is 23" plus much much larger than arnolds. ------------------ | ||

The only way to find out how big Arnold's arms were in his prime is to go back in time and measure the fuckers....you are going to read or hear something different no matter where you go....Arnold had the look that bodybuilding was about at the time....if he was born a few decades later and competed today, he would be using all the HGH, IGF-1, Interleukin,Synthol and God only knows what the fuck else today's guys use, and he'd be a lot more massive. | ||

Geesh you guy. Haven't any of of you yet realized that bodybuilding has nothing.....NOTHING to do with what the tap-measure says or how much you can bench or squat. Arnold was and is still king. He looked good next to his competitors, and he still has fantastic symmetry even by today's standards. Yes he would lose to any of the current top Olympia competitors. But He's not competing against them so it's an irrelevant comparison. I think a better question is how many of the guys posting on this board today think they could honestly compare favorably against Arnold in his hey day (no matter what you're using)? | ||

I don't know about you guys, but my arms cold are 17.5 and I have a almost life size poster of arnold, and his arms make mine look like sticks. Its just hard to believe that 2.5in would make that much of a difference. My opinion his arms were a little bigger than 20s. | ||

Well, WC, If arnold was as small as u said he is then he wouldnt have won anything. U say his arms were 19, that means franco and arnold's arms were the same size and i dont see that possible. U think the guys who did pumping iron the movie and book are wrong and u are right, i can beleive what i read because u can also see it in the movie. Why do u think arnold was so well known in the beginning of his career, it was because of the fact that his arms were unusually big, and over 20 inches. I'm with "crash" on this one too, my arms are 17 cold and there is no way 2 more inches would make olypmia arms. Arnold the worst olympia winner ever by wc's views. That is just wrong. Arnold is King. | ||

I Have to agree with BigBobby on this. I also saw both Levrone and Arnold at the Classic. In my opinion Arnold is the bigger guy. Because of his height, Arnold's arms may appear smaller but in actuality his arms are probably an inch-1.5 inches bigger. Levrone's height makes his arms look bigger. Now can't we all just get along. Arnold is overrated. In his day,the guy trained 6 days a week(twice on each day)for hours at a time.That is chronic overtraining. But he got big because of his good genetics and drugs.Dorian Yates on the other hand,trained 3-4 times a week and his workouts lasted 45 minutes tops! doing no more than 1-2 sets per exercise.You tell me who is the bigger and smarter one.Arnold can't act either and has a dumb accent. | ||

First off---Arnolds arms were lucky to hit 19.75 in the off season-----For the guy that said he had close to this(yeah but how lean are you----arnold had unreal shape which made him appear bigger then he was) Sergio was big, but his head was so small it made him appear much bigger----One of my good friends is Sergios newphew----He said Sergio barly trained------and that sergios head was so small----everyone called him coconut head---his claim to fame was that his bis were bigger then his head(not a big deal if your head is the size of a peanut) Arnold is the king but only because of what he did in acting afterward---- | ||

I don't understand this Arnold bashing. Anyone who has seen pumping iron, Conan or Terminator understands Arnold. If you can't figure this out...seek therapy NOW! Not one of us has seen him and not been left in a state of total and absolute AWE. |
