Which training principals do you bro's follow? Multipal sets or Heavy Duty one set training? For the longest time I used to do multiple sets for example Chest Day Incline Bench 4x8to10reps same for flat bench and dumbell fly's and then finish off with cables for 4sets of 15 these are Arnies training methods.I have trained this way for three years with great results, but then I picked up a book with Mentzer's training methods in it and it basically bashed the whole multiple set training. This amazed me because I thought how can this be was Arnie wrong I mean he is one of the greatest bodybuilders of all times. So I did a little research and found that Dorian Yates followed Mentzer's training methods and his achievements also have been great, and then I found that Big Greg Kovacs the largest bodybuilder in the world trains the Heavy Duty way,so what I am asking is has anyone achieved greater results with Heavy Duty training vs multiple sets its a shame to think that I have been limiting my growth. Any help will be appreciated.

Nice to see someone has done some research on the subject...
I personally train in the heavy duty method, I do not follow it to a 'T' but I have incorporated some of my own ideas into it. I have made great gains working out this way.

I will warm up really well, doing maybe 3 or 4 warm up sets slowly increasing the weight to the weight that I will use for my one set to absolute failure.
For chest day I will do flat bench press, then maybe some cable flyes for a good squeeze of the muscle.
Then go over and do one set of military presses.
If I decide to do triceps I will do them last and also just one set to failure.

I'm curious to hear how you do your workout...keep this thread alive or email me.

Peace
DrZ

Thanks for the info, Doc. Last week I switched my training to heavy duty I do two or three warm ups of 3 or 4 reps and then one heavy set to failure for example today I did legs leg press 1 set to failure same for hack squat and leg extensions and one set of stiff legs for hammies and one set of leg curls, all heavy and to failure. I figure that I will give this a go and see how it flys.

I like to cycle my training, every 3 months or so- I think change is the big thing. Always gotta keep changing it up to keep your body guessing.

I am in the exact same boat as the doc. I warm up about 4 sets, real good stretching, etc. Then I hit 1-2 sets really hard using pre-exhaust, drop sets, negatives, forced reps, etc. So I get about6-7 sets per bodypart.
