Hey Fellas, I have tried my very hardest since I've been here not to ask stupid questions, but to learn from previous posts - here goes though. I am preparing for my first cycle, but have just been booked in for day surgery for a really bad sinus problem. The doc has prescibed me PREDNISONE 5mg Tabs. 3/day for 1 week, 2/day for 1 week then 1/day 1 week. What's the deal with this and how would it be expected to reduce my sinus problems. I assume it acts as a type of anti-inflammatory? If anyone can be helpful, please do. Just curious. Blonski

Awesome Pic, Hopefully someone else can help out. Previous posts discuss it as an interuption to their cycles, but I'd like to know a little more about it.

Prednisone will help the inflammation in the sinuses. I wouldn't worry too much about muscle loss, corticosteriods don't cause that much muscle loss, just a little bit. Personally I would ask your doctor for Cortef instead of Prednisone...it's not as potent, but you won't get any side effects from it (like muscle loss, bloating, etc.)

I've had to take prednisone at high dosages before (120mg/day) for extended peroids for inflammatory bowel syndrome. I experienced edema and muscle loss. At the low dosages and short duration that you're stating, you should be okay. I wouldn't worry about a thing. Hope this helps.

Thanks Guys, When you are planning a cycle to get your weight back after glandular fever 3 years ago, the last thing you want to do is take a course of muscle munching steriods. Your assistance has been greatly appreciated. Blonski

Curious what kind of surgery you are having; my wife just had sinus surgery a little over a week ago for an allergic fungal disease(I know it sounds gross); they are still doing allergy tests to see if they will have to put her on prednisone and for how long. Oh by the way at those dosages and length of time your doc has you on the meds you should be ok.

how bad would it be for someone to be on prednisone at 150 mg a day for a year? Does anybody know ow much muscle they would loose? If they should be counsled on alternatives and such? ------------------

Fuzzdog, 150mg a day is insanely high. I don't think any doctor would recommend that. I took 80 to 120mg for almost a year. Side effects included compress fracture of 3 vertabrae-spent 6 months in a wheelchair rehabing. You will lose all your muscle and gain alot of fat around your waist and your face. My waist went up from 30 to 38 and although I returned to normal years later, I still retain the stretch marks. Stay away from Prednisone!

Don't take the shit! I would rather suffer than take that shit again. I gained a bunch of fat and water in just a week and my arms and legs shrank, not to mention it makes you weak. It increases cortisol levels (the exact opposite of what you want for building muscle). I just got off that shit last week and I am now rebuilding. ------------------ |
